The final few months of Martinez were far worse if you ask me. That bloke literally said losing football matches was acceptable as long as the team completed a certain amount of passes and wanted us supporters and the players to join him in his insanity.

Allardyce clearly isn't good enough to manage a club the size of ours but I don't to despise him anywhere near as much as I did Martinez. We all knew beforehand he was self-serving, greedy, out-of-touch, microwave-head of a man. We hired him purely to get us safe from relegation, he's done that so fair play, he's your money and go on your way now.

He hasn't set the club back years in anything he's done since he's been here like former did. We're still cleaning up that Spanish fraud's mess 2 years later.

.

I didn’t like brown shoes either, as a manager, but, he seemed a likeable, if somewhat deluded individual,. Fatty Allardyce, however, is completely unlikeable. He is an ugly conceited man, whose teams play ugly Neanderthal football. He is just as deluded as brown shoes was, because Allardyce really believes that he is a top manager.

He doesn't conduct himself in a manner that flatters or inspires confidence, but he clearly gets his message across to the players.

We may not be playing with an identity we'd like, but we have played with an identity that was needed since he was appointed as we were in a dire situation.

We've been on a good run from the off, then a barren/poor run helped by the teams around us doing similar, and seems to have turned it around somewhat as we've played a lil bit of decent togger in the past couple games.

He's signed players that have clearly improved our first eleven, and shifted some of the crap Koeman tried to fill us with.

Is Sam the man to take us forward? No. But he was the answer to a situation we found ourselves in.

I wouldn't like to see him in charge next season, as I think we should use it as a platform to bring in someone like Fonseca who has potential to bring us to another level.

I agree 100% with what you say. This is one of the most balanced posts that I have read on the subject of Big Sam. If someone had said when he was brought in that we would have been "safe" with 7 games to spare then I think that we would all have snapped their hand off,due to the state that we were in.
Tosun and Walcott have been great buys and are amongst our best players.
That said, I think that we ultimately will need a change with an eye on the long term

His transfer dealings are really paying off. Tosun and Walcott winning us points. Good setup today, even though we let them into the match too much. The second half was a lot better then the first.

Get the sense that Tosun banging them in is more about Tosun than Allardyce. Funny to see him claiming some credit for it though..!
