It's just verbal caricaturing really. It pokes fun and highlights the perceived failings of the target. It also allows the powerless a way to hit back. Like the visual kind, it can be gentle or vicious depending on the how the target is regarded.
Big Sam the nickname by which he is happy to be known becomes FatSam for instance.
It's a type of humour that permeates most areas of life.

Don't say "most" areas of life, but "some" areas of life. My experience in life is that a majority of people have a respect for their fellow human beings and do not abuse them for their appearance. A few do not, and find their expression in verbal or written abuse. To describe the few as "powerless is silly". The only power any of us has is to walk away and not go to the match. Clearly the great majority choose not to do that, hence the record ticket sales. A large proportion of society is fat (or varying degrees of obesity). Therefore I imagine that a fair number of the members of this forum are probably fat. I am certain that none of them would wish others to describe them in the terms regularly used on here for the Everton manager. It is puerile and not funny and deflects from the serious issue which is that Sam is not good enough for our club because of his record of running poor style football teams. Of course he might say that is all he ever inherits, crap players with clubs in crisis. so what do we expect?
Both the current and previous manager are terrible when it comes to fan relations. Remember Koeman's press conferences?

Over the years Martinez later pressers were the ones that made me cringe the most.

My ability to poke fun at the pompous is what keeps me going. Respect is earned not given.
Funnily enough I had no problem with Koemans conferences. But most admittedly did. In truth the skill at building some sort of rapport with your fans is a skill which while not vital can help sustain some vestige of support during less successful periods. Koeman and Allardyce both signally lack this quality.

Roberto is in the Monday Night Football studio tonight. Could be interesting. Would have liked to have seen him given the chance with even half of the money Koeman had. Shame. A million times more likeable than the latest two carts and never once had us flirting with relegation either. Given money he would have done ok.

I can never work out how Martinez degenerated to the stage where most wanted him gone. A common view was the "he had lost the plot". All his self assurance vanished and he seemed to lose his grip under the pressure. He got up peoples' noses by describing poor performances as very good or even phenomenal. He was probably frustrated because he wanted his team to play like Barcelona, and we didn't possess players of that quality. Very likeable but something came adrift and it all fell apart ending for me with the humiliation of his last Anfield derby game.

There's no point being a Sam Ally dice troll on her. When Sam himself is the king of it.

It feels like that because it is current. I don't actually find it disrespectful because I don't put any stock in anything he says anyway. I don't care what he thinks, he has done the job asked of him and will bugger off in the summer and we move on.

Personally I think the players deserve a bit of stick anyway, as for the fans, well we have hardly been welcoming of him have we to be fair?

I just don't think the situation is worth getting worked up about. It is what it is and it will change in due course. Nothing needs to be forced as it was happening from the very beginning anyway.

Chill, everything will be fine.
I wish I could mate. I cringe every time he ooens his gob and won't be able to chill until he's gone.

For me, it was the 3-6 at home to Chelsea that started the rot. He never recovered from that tactically. It knocked the stuffing out of him.

Once again its all down to the clubs usual gash communication.
After the Europa bumming and the saints utter hammering, if we said "Sam is here to keep us up, then we sort out the issues for next season", none of this would have happened.
If we said, "we have given him 18 months, just in case he wins the fa cup and gets us into Europe, but if he just does the minimum we ask and keep us up, he's deffo off."
Again, that would be bearable.

He's kept us up, fact, whether anyone would have done it as easily is Debatable.
