The tactics were right but I'm not having that our players couldn't have played a lot better. Once again we looked pedestrian in our pace during a derby. Almost as if we were from a different division.

Defensively, fair enough. We limited them to few chances but I still think a lot of players need to think long and hard about that performance and whether it was good enough.

It was just our normal deer in the headlights performance against the RS mate. Until we stop showing them the respect they don't deserve, and stop being scaredy cats, we'll never beat them.

The problem is Roy this *is* his plan every game. It works when you're at no marks like Bolton or West Ham but I can't be arsed with it here.

Heard in the pub today we turned Fonseca down to take Sam, can't see this being long term can only think moshi is planning to pay him off in summer and get Silva.
it's really not though. That's just fans of other clubs talking. You don't get Bolton and West ham into Europe by playing safety first football. there's no way you'd get enough points from that.
He's been here 10 days and has mostly sorted out our silly defensive problems. I expect he'll move slowly through the rest of the team sorting them out into something that resembles a football team in the next few weeks. then he can start upgrading positions that don't come upto spec.

Silva would never have got a point out of Anfield today with our squad.

He’ll get us playing.
RK and Martinez I was excited about thinking we’d become this team that played total football and continental style yet was let down massively. Big Sam has done well everywhere he’s gone. Never managed a decent club with financial backing so I’m excited to see what he does in January to move us forward as a club.

And...

We’re not going down. Something I feared a few weeks ago for the first time in about 15 years .

Have you seen the players he had playing for Bolton!? Hierro, Campo, Okocha, Djorkaeff, it's not like he took a load of lads from a factory in Farnworth and turned them into footballers.

Lets not forget, he`s also in his own interests to get them playing again.

We do well for the rest of the season, he gets kept on and a chance that he thought he`d never get again, to prove himself.

We don`t, he gets the boot and slinks back to punditry and brown envelopes under the table.

Yes mate, he got those in and set his team up so they played really well. Like a lot of managers, he starts at the back and works forward. He's had 10 days, and already he's mostly sorted out a base from which a midfield can have a bit of confidence in going forward. Christ, he's had Sunderland and Palace going forward and scoring more than enough to win more points than they had all season to stay up. We are in no way as bad off as they were when he took over.. At the moment he can only work with the players he's got, and he's turned them around (2wins and a draw in 10days), just wait until he actually start working on our midfield and attack, and gets a few players in he can rely on.
