Look at what Atletico are doing tonight. It's not pleasing on the eye, but it's effective and that club delivers success to the fans. For me, I'm not bothered about the style of play; I want trophies and that is something Sam Allardyce will never deliver.
Yes, but big Sam he's the same standard as Simonelol

Only thing with that is in an entire career of 30 years as a manager Allardyce has never shown any example or evidence that he can do anything on another level. He has always opperated under the same mandate and it works for him and gets him the results needed. It all depends on what Moshiri wants, Sams way is suited to saving troubled teams, not rebuilding clubs.
Well in the last 30 years we won 1 fa Cup so tbh we deserve Sam, lack of ambition and our new club motto Nothing But Mediocre Is Good Enough

In terms of results he's done fine. Not good, not bad. He needs to go because of the crap he comes out with and his disgusting football. I do fear that he will be kept tho:

Home wins so far this season:10 (11 if we beat Southampton)
Home wins last season: 13

Away wins this season: 3 (4 if we beat West Ham)
Away wins last season: 4

Away points this season: 15(2 more than Arsenal)

These stats make Sams reign look good when it has been absolutely suicidal to watch

And that is why a wise man once coined a phrase about lies, darned lies and statistics ;)

You can win games by playing attractive football and setting out to score more goals than your opponents. There are some successful examples of this at the moment.

You can also win games by playing disciplined football, aiming to score once and preventing your opponents from scoring at all. Again, there are current examples of this.

The point is - the choice is not between attractive football and winning games. You need a plan - and a team of players who can play in the appropriate style.

However, the richer clubs can afford the better players. And there are certainly six clubs richer than Everton.

In a 3 team league if they avoid the other 2?

8th place Sevilla undefeated in 4 games against United and Liverpool this season. If you're argument that what Simeone has achieved at that club isn't worthy of recognition and is down to being in a 'mickey mouse' league then you are utterly wrong.

I've just finished a book called The Mixer by Michael Cox which is about tactics in football.

A good part of it is devoted to Sam Allardyce, focussing on his Bolton side and how he was able to outwit the systems of the likes of Fergie and Wenger and beat them. His signings of Campo, Djorkaeff and Kevin Davies were cited as masterstrokes.

It is compelling and quite persuasive. A man with no huge money behind him was able to get around the giants and win.

So what happened?

Did it say how many times he actually beat Ferguson and Wenger during his Bolton days and how many times he played against them?

He didnt win tho, hes never won a thing as a manager, sorry, a League of Ireland league title and a 3rd division title, other than that a few play offs, so he didnt get around the giants and win, he competed with the "giants" and at times gave them a bloody nose, but so has Alan Pardew, so has David Moyes, Tony Pulis and a long, long list of Premier League managers that have never won more than a booby prize.

Its not JUST his style I object to, we need a winner to take us forward, it didnt work out, but Koeman was a winner, 9 major trophies.

Sam isnt a winner, Sam Allardyce has been a manager for 27 years, in that time hes managed to get a club to a final once where he was "outfoxed" by Steve freaking Mclaren in a League Cup final, he has yet to make it past the QF stage in the FA cup.

In short, this ISNT the man that will take us ANY further than 7th or 8th.

IS Marco Silva? Is Paulo Fonseca? Who knows, probably not, but I would rather take a chance on the unknown than watch the known unfold.

No, not at all but I seem to remember that Bolton were in the top bracket for a time and got into Europe. Pretty amazing. This was ten years ago or whatever.

He is obviously a bloke who thrives on being the underdog and going after sides with rigid systems. Taking over a huge club like ourselves was never going to work.

I just read the book loick!
