I think he will set up defensively again tomorrow. Not expecting any miracles overnight. He deserves a few months and a transfer window before making a proper assessment of him but the signs so far are encouraging.

My level of expectation is rock bottom. We were truly awful in Nov/Oct last year but had Lukaku to bully teams and didn't have the start we had this time. BFS has been hired at a good time for him. He probably can not believe his luck.

If we can get to the end of the season without spending money on some rubbish one dimensional players (to add to the ones we already have) we'll be doing well. Recruitment has been poor and I am not convinced that BFS will improve the situation.

I hope in 12 months time under our new manager (not BFS) we'll look back at the start of this season, when a core of youngsters were blooded, as the start of good things. We plunged the depths.

Most likely. He may treat it as "Dont give up a goal, and we just need to get one". Im mostly fine with that for another game or two, as long as he does what he did previously and drop Rooney back beside Gueye, maybe play Siggurdson as an attacking mid, and then play something like Lennon and Lookman as the wingers. Id play Vlasic, but Lennon just has a higher defensive work rate than almost any of our other wingers, so hes likely to get the start until we feel more confident.

Aldo’s written a pretty foul article about Everton’s new manager in the Irish press.
Haha the definition of Mr Bitter. He's like the drunk who sits in the corner of the ale house supping a half of mild hoping to catch someone's eye to bore him about his past conquests.

You know he may not be the best manager in the league but right now, for where we are, he may be good for what ails us. No matter what you might think of him he firmly believes in himself and his abilities. He's got snark and is cocky. If he does nothing else I hope he transfers that to the squad.

I am not sure if i like him or not but i respect the fact he does not give one rats ass what I think.

Yep. I have said more than once, I think he will surprise us. I dont think for one second he will set us up at Newcastle like he did at the pit.

Biggest club job he has ever had. By a mile.

I don’t think that team yesterday was set up particular defensively.......not with Oumar and DCL starting.

I think the plan was to cut out the midfield and get the boys in behind them as often as possible but it never worked out, not least because the normally accurate hoofs from Pickford were totally garbage yesterday and he kept finding touch with them :(

I would expect more at the Barcodes ground.....but left back is a major cause of concern right now.

I wonder if they have any right wingers could exploit it.

I also think in combination with shaky Walshy and Sammy there is a powerful support team

Lads the man is a dinosaur. With a little less luck we could have been hammered 4 or 5 yesterday. It had nothing to do with how he got the tactics right it was pure fluke.

Sooner he’s gone the better.

You have to ask what the teams strength is.
We don't have any actual footballers apart from Rooney.

Big Sam knows this so we'll play to the only strength which is a few solid defence minded players.
