Yes, and like I said he had the luxury of both: the return of 2 experienced full backs and January to rectify the attacking options.

We still where lambs to the slaughter against the top 6 and barely hobbled past the everyone else

That would have always been the case no matter who we got in.

Honestly, it's as people think we've got a squad full of untapped talent a more flair type of manager would unlock. We don't. That's far from it when 80% of that squad needs to be removed.

We we're in a dangerous position with that squad IMO. The wrong manager and we'd have struggled. We played safe. Finished 8th.

Close the book.

Im not overly surprised he didnt do th elap of appreciation, i dont blame him to be honest, he definitely doesnt deserve the abuse or sentiment felt by fans, why would you run that gauntlet or inflame the situation. Fair play to him i say. The ironic thing is he deserves a lot of appreciation.

Its turgid stuff, we knew what we were getting into really all that remains is to see how it plays out, for me ill always be grateful to him regardless.
If you can’t see that this fella has stole a living out of football.

Tell me one thing he has done to improve us since West Ham at home when he took over?

Has the style of play improved?
Has our attacking threat improved?
Have we beat any team convincingly?
Has the defence improved?
Has Goodison been rocking?
When was the last time you looked forward to going the match?
Have you been entertained at anytime he has been here other than speedo mick scoring in the Street end yesterday?

Enough said

Yeah, fan frustration at the whole club has boiled over and he's taking the brunt of it because he's the easiest target and he's the number one person fans don't want here next season.

I wouldn't have bothered with it if I was him either tbh, he knew the abuse he would get.

Whenever i watch us it looks as if we have not done any research on the opposition at all. Not spot weak spots, not work out how to nullify certain threats.

Its almost as if we spend the whole week practising sending michael keane up for free kicks on the halfway line and working on scraps

Seriously. You havent a clue have you? The lad was posting on here way before Sam and Sammy joing. Before Koeman, Martinez and Moyes and still passed on what he heard. So, it's safe to say, you havent a clue what your on about.

As you were Mr Funk...
Take it easy mate, are you a member over there? Unfortunately I haven’t been a regular member/user/poster like some on here over the years and really just read posts rather than looking who’s sent it. Added to that I take itks with a pinch of salt most of the time so as you say I’m not really up to speed on all things related to forums. Out of curiosity why does he no longer post on here?

Don't buy this argument. The squad is more than good enough that if anyone had been adventurous enough to try we could've gotten 7th this year and Europe which I know some people didn't want but to me it's part of building a culture of competing in Europe every year.
Even a half decent coach just playing a more positive brand of football would have achieved this. A good coach who had us playing above ourselves who knows.

This is comfortably the seventh best squad in the league.

Not got us relegated
Signed Walcott and Tosun.
26 million in prize money finishing eighth as opposed to in the neither regions of the league
Made us not one of the leagues wipping boys
Organsied the team
Stopped us conceding 4 goals against likely relegated teams
Got about 35+ points in five months.

I think Keneda said up above people believe this is a team littered with talented creative players waiting to be unlocked, pound for pound i think are recruitment has been probably the worst in Europe.

Regardless if he stays or goes he was more deserving of a lap of appreciation yesterday then probably anyone at the club. We are unbeaten in five games now, whether he stays or gores the stick is cringe worthy for me and im very saddened by it.

On the entertainment i agree its been turgid, but i wouldnt say it hasnt needed to be we are limited, i think anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. Look the way i see it Martinez teams were entertaining fans still wanted him out, fans dont know what they want, they want something. Ultimately its about being competitive for me, if you are challenging for CLs spot fans and are competing for cups, fans will be fickle about who is in charge really. Lets not all pretend we devotees of the beautiful game ultimately its nuts and bolts of competing and success.

Could sam be Playin hard ball here. Maybe he has been told he's not been sacked but in fact he wants out. Will leave by mutual consent at the end of the season. Won't be said he was sacked and leaves with a nice cheque. Because he likes to have his ego stroked and knowing he is hated and been booed would not please him.

The results improved. Our defending improved big time, we went from conceding a minimum of two goals per game to actually getting clean sheets.

Does this mean I want Sam to stay? No. But he oversaw a big improvement in our results, and only those with an agenda will say otherwise.

The reason we went 3 at the back is because we have a tactical dinosaur as a manager. He didn't lnow how to cope with their formation and he didnt know how to expose thay formation either. So he did all he knew which was to go like for like even though we've been absolutely dire whenever we've played 3 at the back this season. I 100% certain he didnt do 1 training session on that this week.

Look at their goal. Tadic picked the ball up in acres of space despite us having 3 CD and 3 DM on the pitch. And then the scorer being totally unmarked. An utter shambles but that was to be expected ad I called in the match thread as soon as he made the change.

The system with the players he had available did not work in the first half, he had to change the system or personnel...
It was a poor performance al round tbh...
