The Toffees boss will hold one-on-one meetings with his squad over the next few weeks to ensure they are ready to give their all for him.

If not, they can expect to be on their way out of Goodison in the New Year as Allardyce plots how best to ensure Everton keep climbing the table.

Asked if all players have a clean slate under him following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, Allardyce replied: “If every player is honest enough, when I can finally get through the one-on-ones, and they tell me if they want to stay or they don’t.

“Do you want to stay, or don’t you want to stay? If you are going to be honest with the manager, or they want to leave it a bit longer, see how it goes to January and then see what’s what. I’ll deal with it.

“I don’t want anyone here who doesn’t want to be here.”

Koeman splashed over £100m on Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Nikola Vlasic in the summer.

But they have rarely lived up to their price tags and Allardyce wants to know if they, and the rest of his players, are ready to roll up their sleeves.

Admitting he is open to the idea of a clear out next month, Allardyce added: “If people want to move because it hasn’t quite worked or they have not settled quite as well as they thought they might, or it’s not quite what they thought… up until then all these guys have a chance.

“By the same token there’s always a price pay and the club accepts we are not going to be mugs and let people leave the club under value in today’s market.”

Allardyce will also be interested to see if Ross Barkley’s desire to leave Goodison is still the same with Koeman gone.

The Everton boss will look to make additions in January, with a striker still top of the priority list.

But he is wary of blowing cash on a player who cannot guarantee goals, especially as the jury is still out with Everton fans over his appointment despite Sunday’s 1-1 draw with rivals Liverpool.

He added: “It is the hardest thing to recruit players who score goals. Is he the right one for you?

“My first signing has to be correct for Everton and for my future here. Make bad signings and you get the sack, it’s that simple.”

People take themselves far too seriously. It's a game of football at the end of the day.

He wasn't most people's first choice, but he's saying the right things, he respects the club and he's currently getting results.

Yeah, he's a bit of a dodgy character, but the sanctimonious crap that some people are spouting is quite laughable really. Get over yourselves.

Yet both have won more than sam has....funny aint it, its almost like someone is talking out of their bottom.
Yeah you.Stats don't mean Jack lad.Stick either one of them in that DERBY GAME and neither of them would come out alive. You know it and I know it.It wasn't pretty by any means but we got a draw ,first since 2014 over there.

As far as i’m Concerned 2 weeks ago after Southampton battered us, we were down, I honestly couldn’t see how this shower of sh*** we’re going to pick up any points from anyone in that league, we needed someone to come in take us back to basics and defend from the midfield to the back never mind attack we don’t have the players for it, that would have to wait and whilst I admit fat Sam was not my choice he and his team have come in stopped the rot and my god he’s picked up 3 wins and draw with that same shower of sh*** it beggars belief, so I’m happy to give him a go, let mosh give him some dosh and lets see how he gets on, can not be any worse than the two previous nobs (not unsy) we’ve had

We were a shambles under both Koeman and Unsworth.Big Sam inherited an absolute shambolic mess of a set up.But he has got us organized, and made us hard to beat.Any person with some semblance of sanity, would be happy enough with how we limited and frustrated Liverpool at Anfield, to get a point.Under Koeman or Unsy, we would have got smashed.Im just glad to see signs of improvement, and hopefully with some signings in January, we'll go on a strong run after christmas.Big Sam is bit of an ego.I can see why people dislike him.But so long as the team performs and win matches, then all is good. It's a results based business, and so far Sam Allardyce is getting them.

Bang on.
