If Mourinho had got a point away from home against superior opposition by "parking the bus" the media would be waxing lyrical about what a tactical genius he is.

The fact that we're missing six players (including the captain of Ireland) makes Sunday's result all the more impressive.

I'm really warming to our new boss.

My sentiments exactly.

Some of the comments on here make me sick. Martinez didn't get this much stick when he lost 4-0 at Anfield.

Great start by Big Sam.

He has inherited a dysfunctional, low-on-confidence squad with lots of hard decisions to be made. And he has already made
progress.

Huddersfield and some bums from Cyprus?

We should have been bummed yesterday but fortunately Klopp is as arrogant as sam.

You don’t want him as manager, we get it. Don’t be so bitter about it though if other people aren’t as intolerant as you about who manages Everton.

We are going to win some and lose some, doesn’t matter who the opponent was you still have to perform.

We’ve had 2 1/4 seasons out of 3 of absolute turd, so fans want to see us winning more often and couldn’t give a shiny one if Satan was manager if he gets results.

@maccavennie yep deffo a point gained but not because of his tactical supremacy nor our outstanding defending. It was pure luck.

Chances are we’ll pick up a knock or two over the festive period as will they. I hope allardyce doesn’t think that’s the blueprint for playing top 4 or we’ll be in for some big trimmings. He is so arrogant that he truely believes yesterday was a tactical masterstroke.

He’s already said we didn’t perform well yesterday with the ball. He also said as we had conceded so many goals prior to his arrival his job was to try and build a foundation and stop leaking so many goals which is what has happened so far. Some of it is down to luck and some of it down to a bit of improvement.

Seems he isn’t as arrogant as you are making out, you obviously are making stuff up about him as you don’t like him?

We all know he is full of himself but least (so far) results allow him to be. To be fair our last two managers have been, but unlike Koeman he is more respectful of the size of our club and he is more pragmatic than Martinez. Hopefully this means we don't get the drop off when things start to get difficult. I'm fairly confident he will leave our club in a better state one, hopefully with a good template to carry forward with the appointments of a psychologist and a performance director taking us into the 21st century.

Right now I do not know what he would like to play. Maybe it will be clear after he spends money.
He seems to have a game plan, a b and c, not just run and chasing the ball.lol

You have to ask what the teams strength is.
We don't have any actual footballers apart from Rooney.

Big Sam knows this so we'll play to the only strength which is a few solid defence minded players.
I think we do have a few more, but we've played half of the team out of position. We havent played the wingers like Lookman, we've played DCL alone up top when hes better with a partner, we've played Rooney on the wing, and Siggurdson on the wing, and Gueye further forward than he should be.

Sometimes good managing isnt so much about getting in new players, but simply recognizing a players strengths/weaknesses, and their best position.
