Sam recognizes that this is the best shot he'll get. He's not getting hired at a Top 6 club. As made up as he must be he is putting his absolute all into this job simply because this could be the pinnacle of his career (determining what he does after Everton as well).

We're getting a motivated manager.

The only way he gets a top 6 club is if he makes the club he is at into one. Make it happen Big Sam, make it happen. Then we talk about what's next...

4 of our next 6 league fixtures against the top 6 of last season will be at home, so we have an opportunity to nick a result or two out of those. If we can get two wins out of those 6, we might be able to salvage a top 6 finish. Our away record has to improve under Allardyce though, and to his credit, he already has 4 points out of 6 away from home.

Arsenal and Burnley also have to trend downwards, and expecting Arsenal to fall that far is perhaps a little too hopeful. Burnley, on the other hand, can fall in a heart beat. I wouldn't underestimate them though as they have proven themselves very competent on the road. They haven't really had any convincing victories though (have they won a league game by more than 1 goal apart from Swansea?).

Optimist in me says 6th and Arsenal choke... Realist in me says 7th

Very telling comment by Allardyce with regards to the defense, saying he couldn't understand why they've conceded so many goals this season saying that they have been brilliant since he's arrived. What does that say about koeman or what the players thought of him, it comes across as a bit of a slap across the chops to Koeman
