His afte match interview was very god, came across sensibly and forth right about the team and players. On the subject of the Xamas party basically it is off until after the FA Cup go with the redknobs.

In which case where do you place RK and from the names mentioned do you think they would have had the same effect on the team if any of them had been given the nod?
Err.

I could listen to him talk footy all day, really knows his stuff and articulates well.
Can honestly say he hasn't done a great deal wrong, on or off the pitch, since he came. Thought I'd be cringing at his pressers seeing him in an Everton track suit.

The only thing I can pull him on was a post match derby interview, when he made a comment on our defence that could easily have been construed as a dig at Unsy. Given that Unsy is still part of the club set up I thought that was a bit below the belt if meant, and insensitive if not. I'm actually leaning to the latter because post last nights match he's now distancing himself a bit from taking ALL the credit for the defensive improvements. Fair do's.

He will gradually turn us into a setpiece team, this I’m 100% certain. Only a matter of time.

While we enjoy the mini renaissance under him, I can also envisage a boring Bolton setpiece style in the not so distance future.

And still be in Europe
It’s a real shame because had we not bothered with the Unsworth fiasco we could have had Sam in a lot earlier and be in Burnley’s shoes now.
That's pure conjecture.

He's done really well since he came. I didn't expect anything out of Sundays game and he's just won our first away game in almost a year. Bravo. But to assume he'd have turned it around immediately had we appointed him 6 weeks earlier is nothing more than speculation.

Unsworth took over a squad of players who had downed tools. He tried and failed miserably several times to come up with a system and line up that worked. He eventually got a performance against West Ham, playing Kenny alongside Holgate on the right side of defence, Rooney in a more withdrawn central position so he can Siggy can work effectively in the same team, and brought in Lennon to add a bit more protection for the underperforming defence.

The fact that Allardyce has gone with the same defensive line up in every game since speaks volumes. In fact, apart from a tweak here and there, he's gone with pretty much the same line up and system full stop. If you look back at Allardyce's record in these situations, it's usually taken him 6 games or more before he gets his teams working. FFS even he's surprised how quickly the team has managed to turn things around. Which leads me to believe that perhaps Unsworth had already done the dirty side of the task for him. It would be unfair to say that Allardyce has taken all the credit, as he has clearly built on what Unsworth started, and there's a lot more for him to do as so far only the defence has really improved. He now needs to start working on the offensive side of our game.

To be in Burnley's shoes and still in Europe, Allardyce would had to have come in and immediately won our final 3 EL games, in addition to winning 3 away games at Leicester (1 loss in last 10 games which was to City) Palace (1 loss in last 10 games which was to Spurs) and Southampton. To manage that he probably would have to be The Messiah.
