I'm struggling to understand why people think it will develop much beyond what he's serving up now.

Because he's nearing the end of his career and after the England debacle he might actually want to win something, ideally a cup. We are the biggest team too he has managed and will be given different goals

What gives people hope from his career that we will? What gives people the idea we've even got that much money to spend on new players? The fact is that we have completely ballsed everything up and being best of the rest is all we can hope for in the foreseeable future.

We can't attract a Pep or Jose. None of the managers we've had recently have won anything or can be classed as high achievers

Look at the squads in the top 6. Littered with quality players. We have spunked the majority of our money and are actually a worse team for it.

If we'd spent the 150 on decent players we still wouldn't be in the top 4 I think. They can outspend us hand over fist.

Don't you enjoy an average of 2 pts per game lol

How good do you think our squad is?

I think
Pickford
Coleman/Kenny
Holgate/Keane
Gana/Rooney

Are all very good players but the rest need experience or aren't good enough.

Kenny and Holgate are green and raw but are doing good lately. You believe 7 players are good out of about 31 players this is unreal lol.

So, what you both are saying is that when Allardyce took over after getting smashed by Southampton the minimum you expected was 2 points a game and to finish 7th?

That's 2 points per game which would mean a champions league place over a season with no left back, striker and no confidence...

lol

Seems to me like he's using the recent good results that a certain Big Sam has earnt us, which in the process has us level with Leicester in 8th and only 6 behind Burnley, to state that we can get a 7th place finish. But the key part about what you had actually mentioned was 'from when he took over'.

agreed ;)

With burnley theyre a bit like the moyes team we had with bent up front...greater than its parts, built over several years and well drilled.

We're currently playing martina, Williams, schneiderlin, lennon who are all poor + davies who is massively out of form. That's half a team.

Its not 2 points per game, 2 points per game from now would probably get us in the CL. It’s probsbly 1-1.5 points per game required and yep, I expected any competent manager to over take the teams we have to, to finish 7th.

Last year showed exactly how far ahead of the rest of this league we are bar maybe Leicester but there was mitigating reasons for Leicester’s demise.

I am very confident we’ll finish above Burnley this year.

The reason he does well at rubbish teams who should be relegated is because he is a very good manager. He's proving that already.

I cant believe he's got us 2pts average per game, its like a Xmas miracle.

So you want to get rid of someone whose averaging 2pts a game with no left back and no centre forward...

lol

No one could have done this well...its an incredible feat and if he gets us 7th this season there will be huge optimism amongst the players going into next season...at the moment theyre probably feeling unbeatable.

he hasn't though has he? He played a negative style of play when going to rubbish teams and saving them from relegation. He did the same at Bolton but then gradually adapted it to go short and long even on a shoestring budget. He's pragmatic.

If Marco Silva was doing this and following the Diego Simeone style of play everyone would be raving...they just don't like sam allardyce.

Its quite bizarre...champions league next season and they would still complain...you have to wonder.

That doesn't make sense...weve just turned over a 30mil profit and have a lot of players we could sell and more tv money.

Which team do you support because Guardiola couldn't do anything with this team nor his dear mother.

Snowflakes / Geordies etc etc its bizarre.

We get smashed at Southampton in one of the worst games since the 90s and yet people are going mad about earning an away point against a west brom side with a new manager who have a good home record this season.

Has anyone claimed that though?

If we keep Allardyce and some of our snowflake fans get behind him then we will compete for top 4 next season...no doubt in my mind.

He plays yard dog footy Zat, and he always will, and for some to think he'll all of a sudden change because he's with us, and will have cash to spend is daft.

Were like 14/15 points ahead of 8th last season.

The confidence and clean sheets are coming back. He is getting a striker too. Burnley could slip up who knows. Not necessarily 2 points a game it depends on how the current 7th place team doing before May.

Look at where we were on points after the Southampton game and calculate how many points we would have if we took 2 pts a game (as we are currently doing) and see where we would have finished for the last couple of seasons...the answer is 7th.

If we'd spent the 150 on decent players we still wouldn't be in the top 4 I think. They can outspend us hand over fist.

We need to follow the Atletico Madrid approach. Be very hard to beat with a top keeper (Pickford/Oblak) and a very strong defence (as Allardyce is sorting out now). Add in some home grown players who can develop to similar level as they have done and we will only be a few players away from a very good side.

Kenny and Holgate are green and raw but are doing good lately. You believe 7 players are good out of about 31 players this is unreal lol.

Kenny and Holgate are improving every game. Its no exaggeration to say their performances since after the Southampton game have been up there with the best in the league.

Precisely.

Its basically saying if Allardyce had come in the summer people would expect 76pts lol

In fact this is actually a harder feat due to the lack of certain players as well as the confidence level when he joined.

After the Soton game we got 14 points from 13 games. Burnley were on 22 points.

Now after 20 games we got 27 points they got 33. If somehow we win this Sat and they lose then 3 points apart with 17 games left. I would not rule out overtaking them at this point.

20 games = 27 pts
1pt per game = 45 pts
1.5 pts per game =54 pts
2pts per game = 63 pts

Perhaps you'd like to re-evaluate?

Ive always said I think Allardyce will get 7th this season. I also was hounded on here for saying we would be 8-10th by jan just before he took over lol

Do you not rate Diego Simeone and didn't like Italian football back in the 90s?

Defence is an art mate ;)

Right back out injured
Left back is finished
Both centre backs too old now
Star striker sold and not replaced

Need I say more lol

Too many non-excuses there. It was selling Lukaku without replacing him. I will choose to keep the faith and hopefully Everton can overtake Burnley soon. They got to slip up at some point in the season.

West Ham = 3pts
Huddersfield = 3pts
Liverpool = 1pt
Newcastle = 3pts
Swansea = 3pts
Chelsea = 1pt
West Brom = 1pt

That's 15 pts from 7 games.

Not 14 pts from 13 games...

It's Champtions League form.

it's actually funny now...

You expected Allardyce to have Everton in champions league form after the Southampton game.

My word.

No pal, I think 50+ points will take 7th this season.

7th is a par finish for this everton squad.

I’m not sure what you’re going on about you seem to struggle to grasp that.

We get that you have lower expectations but that’s not the case for many of us.
