Problem with Unsworth is he was letting 4 a game in.
We were conceding to many but he was trying to get the balance right in the team and between defence and attack. He got it right against West Ham but unfortunately we panicked and got Allardyce in.

You mean the same thing Koeman wanted? Aggression, more tackles? Barkley needs to tackle more, Lukaku needs to work off the ball more...you mean that?

Then he builds a squad full of players who are the opposite of that? Who don't tackle (why do both managers like James McCarthy?) Who can't press (Unsworth wanted them to press like his u23 side).

Then it's quality on the ball. There is none.

So you expect a top manager to come in and implement that? With those players?

There’s ways of implementing it and Koeman failed at it, it was obvious. He tried to shoehorn players in and became stubborn beyond belief.

What I find amazing is how these teams below us, who have much worse quality are able to create chances. How does that work

But stating that Sam Allardyce is a better option than anyone else is ludicrous

There were times today when bolasie was left wing back with Martina tucked in as a 4th centre back. We won the ball back and Niasse had nobody with 60 yards of him

And this is down to having crap players

There's also times Bolasie skipped past 2 and crossed a ball to no one. Or Rooney spread the play and we kept hold of the ball around the final 3rd trying to find a pass.

We just have zero quality.

Uniter did the same. Just so happens they have players who have quality and scored.

I still can't understand wtf happened to Kelly and why we had to get a new GK coach in so quickly.

Also, you'd think summer would be a warning to Allardyce that flinging money around does not always help.

It's just ultra-lazy mate and shows lessons haven't been learned.

£200m+ spent to make the side almost completely at a standstill as a functioning unit (two games in a row without a shot on target, the shame of it) and Allardyce is already saying 'all we can do now is spend more money'.

He bemoans (wrongly) British coaches not getting opportunities, and then says he can't coach improvement out of the current lot.

Amazing.

Did I say he's the only manager who can stop teams conceding?

No. I said he's here to steady the ship after an abysmal run of form had us in a relegation scrap.

He's not the only one who can save us, but he can save us, and that'll do for now. I'd like to see us get someone else in at the end of the season, but the original point was that it is fair to turn on him after 8 games.

Back to back home games without a shot on target, back to back away games where we were massively outshoot and outplayed and set out trying to nick a draw against teams the calibre and in terrible form in West Bromwich as and Bournemouth, nah think it's more than fair to be pissed off myself.

And there’s the issue. Acceptance of mediocrity

Jesus. We got spanked by Southampton 4-1 and Atalanta 5-1 in the two prior games. Unsworth was way out of his depth. I don't see any other struggling premier league teams jumping to offer him a contract.

That’s also because the majority of our players were busting a lung to catch up with play after defending so deep

That abysmal run of form had seen us take 7 points from 5 games, as opposed to the 5 we’ve got from our last 5. It’s the emperors new clothes and some of you think he’s working miracles, it’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so horrifying.

Ok mert. I’m sure none of our players would get into Brighton, West Brom or Newcastle’s team
What is the point in getting managers who have worked with top end players to work here with ours starved of confidence? It’s a different game all togeather, Sam has been there and done it in those circumstances, you can’t argue with it.

And those teams are below us....so that argument doesn't hold much water.

I do think there are teams like Palace and West Ham who have better squads than us and have been mis-managed.

I don't see any of our players having to be double marked like Zaha or be linked to going to the RS like Lanzini.
