I'm glad that Big Sam was so angered by that defeat at Spurs. It shows he cares.

On a practical level, though, I can't see him getting us top 10. In fact, I don't think any manager in the world could finish in the top 10 with this squad. It's unbalanced, toothless and desperately limited.

Obviously the players themselves aren't to blame for that. All they can do is try their best. Koeman is to blame for bringing in the wrong personnel.
Don't forget about Walsh. I think he is more to blame.

Dunno mate. His record is fantastic. The style of football great. Judging on his past record it's very strange this lapse, which is unhearalded, has coincided with his very public liasion with Everton. The players and their agents will know what the script is. I find it very coincidental that his 1st real poor spell as a manger coaligns with our very public interest in him

You? Me? A manager who understands that you have to score goals to win games. I don't know mate, he's on 6m a year so I'd love to say he knows what he's doing. Pick a name out of thin air Dan as I'm pretty sure they could do a similar job for 6m ( let me know if the name plucked from thin air was Audrey as that just came to me)

Mentioned it post Koeman, but Arteta with zero managing experience would do a better job (i was suggesting him as an assistant at the time), alternatively interview a host of managers and whichever one answers the question 'what do you think the squad needs' with the answer 'a new left back, a new centre back, at least two players with pace and creativity added, and a cm with physical presence who can pass a ball forward, and it needs the utter dross that think losing 4-0 is acceptable to be kicked out the squad' then hire them on the spot.

Moyes genuinely would have been a better option. That I can say with 100% certainty.

Lets face it, if he had never left and had the investment now then we would have been and would be, far better off.

Stating the obvious?
Agreed I would have taken Moyes but went for Allardyce because I knew that the board wouldn’t have taken him back. Which is a mistake on the boards part.

Still along with Allardyce, Moyes was the only other openly available candidate.

I hooe to heck he ain’t offski to Goodison.

Don't write Silva off completely mate, we've basically completely screwed them over this season as the players commitment seems to have evaporated as soon as they realised that their manager wanted out, hard to sell the line of putting the effort in for 'your project' when it becomes clear you want to leave yourself.

Got the feeling 2-3 of that team thought they where gonna be going with as well and getting a big move in relative terms.

In short Khal, I'd actually take Silva whenever he became available - decent chance they will sack him as well - Arteta in as his assistant as well.

and get rid of Walsh and recruit a semi competent DoF from abroad

Does arteta know silva , is there any connection between them ? Otherwise is there Any reason why the assistant manager at the richest team in the country , a team managed by his mate and chasing all four trophies would quit to come and do the same job here ?

We are in danger of it tipping into a Villa style situation if we are not careful.

I think people would be more tolerant if a manager had come in and at least tried something different, but everyone has just used that same dull as dishwater Martinez formation and just hoped it would magically work. All we have done is switched pointless short passes for aimless hoofs.

At one point today Kenny knocked it to McCarthy, who played it sideways (the shock) and Kenny ran onto it, twenty yards of space all around him, and just wellied it to the Spurs corner flag. Totally crazy.

Hate to say the word- but we need a manager who 'like' Martinez did when he first arrives, says this is how we are playing and buys and trains to play in that system, not one who just copies the prior failed one.

I know Watfords form has gone off the cliff since we tapped up Silva, but i would still take him here - alongside someone who knows the club - and whose regarded as a up and coming younger coach/assistant (Arteta?)

We need someone who realises you can't build a team with 4-5 players who walk into the starting 11 when available and who can't be relied on due to injury records (McCarthy/Baines) - age (Jagielka, Williams, Baines, Rooney), or character (Mirallas, Schneiderlin, Keane?)

We've got IMO anyway, Pickford, Coleman/Kenny, Holgate, Sigurdsson (played centrally), Tosun (at least on first look) and possibly Gueye (although worried that no cm partner seems to work with him - so is it him or them?)

They are the only players I'd say are good enough and relatively constant enough to be on most team sheets, which given we spunked 200+m up the wall is a scary thing to look at.

Maybe another 8-10 of them are good enough for the squad, but the rest of them are an utter shower of useless dross and need flogging off

He's not assistant manager at city mate, title is assistant coach. There's 5 of them with that same title including Brian Kidd and several Guardiola brings with him to every club as well.

Maybe he fancies career progression mate, coach to assistant manager is the step towards manager if it works out? Because guaranteed he will have to leave City at some point if he harbours any managerial ambition as they will 100% never hire internally once Guardiola leaves.
