I think Moshiri thought that Koeman was in charge of platform building at Everton and gave him the resources to do so, unfortunately it just didn't work out.

Allyrdyce is experienced, knows the Premiership, can work with much smaller budgets and is regarded by quite a few in the game as being underrated as a manager and coach.

In recent seasons he has been branded as a troubleshooter who goes in and rescues ailing clubs and I don't think that is what he wants to be remembered for. This is the chance he has always wanted, the chance he feels that he deserved and we will see if he is proven right, I think it actually may be a very astute signing by the club.
If he does nothing else he will sort out the squad which is underperforming and very unbalanced.

Good post, the standard in this thread ,when people avoid the internet slapstick, is quite high.
I agree that this could be a very astute appointment by Moshiri. It is the best club Allardyce has ever managed and he is chuffed to be here. To unbiased eyes that is obvious. Sam has never really had a chance to aim towards the top of the table before with a big club because he became known as a firefighter, a sort of anti relegation Red Adair. When he has had the rare opportunity he has been innovative concerning sports psychology, fitness and mostly, giving players a chance to find their best game. At Bolton, and I used to watch them a bit then, he used players like Okocha and Djorkiev(?),technically skilful playmakers, but made sure that his 'hard men' gave the flair players like those two enough space in which to operate. He has far superior players at Everton, and I suspect that if he didn't have an answer to 'The Rooney Problem', he has after the other night.(Thank you David Unsworth)
Apart from the required striker and left back/centre back versatile defender we should be getting th January, don't be surprised if we get a top quality, best available to us,technically skilled playmaker, and maybe another 'engine room' midfielder.

Never mind being here to put out fires, Sam is here to light fires up backsides of the top six, and teams who expect to finish the table between 4th and 7th have more to worry about than Everton !

Can't remember what he said exactly about Baines before he got the England job, but remember it was being critical of him defensively wasn't it?
He turned Van Aanholt into a somewhat decent defender, Baines will be childsplay by comparison.

I think it’s a bit of a laugh people kicking off about appointing a ‘crook’ in Allardyce when we have Ferguson on the coaching staff. A man that went to prison because he couldn’t stop punching and head butting people.

I'm glad we went with a loaded one year deal instead of giving him a long term contract. Regardless of what I think of him as a manager, his style of football is probably the way to go until we can build more confidence. It probably isn't wise to sign an attacking manager this late in the season as training camp is almost vital for teams that like to dominate the ball. So me, Mr. Ambivalent, welcomes you to the club fat ass

I'm not a fan of Allardyce however there's little doubt he is useful and reliable for Moshiri which for now will be very attractive.

In trying to sort out a new board, a full takeover, possibly organising a wealthy mate to join his as well as the stadium if the first team is sorted for 18 months with no dramas that wil suit him fine. The added bonus is him and Walsh get along so he shouldn't have to mediate any problems in that regard.

He's probably seen as very low maintainence compared to Koeman. I think unless something gets offered to us on a plate, or Allardyce struggles to get top half he might get him to stay 18 months, and look at guy like Silva/Fonseca when their contracts run out.
