There genuinely seems to be some sort of cognitive dissonance happening here as to the calibre of manager we can appoint going forward.

When was the last time we appointed a world-recognised manager? At a push, maybe Howard Kendall in 1997?

Koeman took over an established squad, set up by Pochettino.

Martinez took over after taking Wigan down.

Moyes took over from second division Preston North End.

Smith took over from Rangers after he 'retired'.

Come on guys and girls, get real. Allardyce is our manager for at least another year, and the only way things will improve is if we back him.

He’s not our manager another year he will be swerved.

He'll be here this time next year, and we'd have improved exponentially.

I would just LOVE It if that is true.
All that has to happen in one year is:
We start playing with a bit of strategy and a style
we win more than we lose
we draw more than we lose
we have a balanced squad
we don't die of boredom
the club as a whole gets some kind of organisational / football strategy
we are still alive

The roof is going to come down on him if we lose thew next two games.

I fully expect West Ham fan levels of discontent before the season is out, because the feller is never going to be capable of setting a team up to play with purpose.

A very fortunate to be there 9th is as good as it gets for us. I fear we'll shortly fall into the bottom half and stay there until May.

Levels of discontent are teetering on full on revolt

Distinct possibilty too. Leicester are tricky to play against. I'm thinking a draw here. Arsenal away is nearly always a defeat and never a win. Not looking good.
I expect us to get a couple of wins just when its looking really bad (and not just -- bad), and all will be ok again..........hmmmm

We'll lose against Arsenal. This lot have pencilled that in before the start of the season. They know they're *allowed* that defeat.

A defeat against Leicester will be damaging though. Even if we get one point out of that game and none from Arsenal we'll have dropped into the bottom half and the heat will be turned up on Allardyce.

He’s slowly turning into a pot of KFC gravy as we speak not sure he needs the heat turning up anymore

Yep.
I'll be amazed if we're not in the bottom half after the Arsenal game. We've been 9th for weeks now and I don't know how. A few teams well placed to go past us now. Can see us being 13th or 14th by Saturday night.
Then the pressure will be on Allardyce, who'll manage our expectations.....again!
I just want this season over with us safe and sound. Football we play is turgid.

I was driving along this afternoon and when Radio 5 live said the words Sam Allardyce Everton manager I genuinely felt a bit ill.

I am not sure why it hit me at that point.

I hope that just like certain other indescribably stupid decisions made over the last 2 years that the position will be rectified at the earliest sensible point without too much harm to the club.
