...other than 15mins at the start and 15mins at the end I thought we played some nice stuff. There’s a stereotypical view that we play ‘hoofball’ but that wasn’t particularly evident on last nights display.
At times last night it was probably the best we have played all season, Bolton under Sam used to play some decent stuff at times but exploited set pieces and played percentages well as they were always just looking for 40 points every season. He has never really had a job in the Premier League where 40 points isn't the main target in the season, no idea how he will do with us long term longer term but we don't play as much hoofball as his stereotype is.

Not happy at all with what he said about Lookman. He's being loaned to one of the best teams in Germany who have a fantastic reputation for blooding youth players and massively improving them. And here's Sam saying it's too difficult and he hopes Lookman "proves me wrong". Well you should have been bloody playing him! Against the RS in the cup he put in 45 minutes that showed more penetrating runs, invention and threat than pretty much anyone we had played all season. Sam wanted him to go where, Derby? Pathetic parochialism.

Then he's sitting there saying he feels bad for Davy not getting to play for Napoli because of some weird image rights thing. Maybe if he's good enough for the Serie A league leaders then you shouldn't be quite so desperate to ship him out of the club the first chance you get???

er...Lookman insisted on going to Leipzig....this is a guy who reportedly is homesick, and yet he insists on going to Germany. I can see Sams point completely. And re Klausen....some players just don't fit in...Veron at United for example. At the present time Klausen is having difficulty fitting in at Everton. So the loan would have been good for him.

Let’s hope and trust this isn’t merely a temporary reprieve, before ‘back to business as usual’ against the Gunners.

Big Sam has the magic, bad night force the naysayers, they got excited when the penalty went in but alas for them it was not to be. Football and Everton with two well crafted goals won it on the night, the pies are on me!
What are you on about?
Let me get one thing straight , I support Everton Football club and I thoroughly enjoyed the match last night, despite getting soaked through. If our fat gravy guzzling supremo can guide us all the way to champions league success I’ll be as made up as anybody.
But I still dislike the Fatman , the style of football he has propagated throughout his managerial career and his RS infested menagerie of assistants. Hell, I hated him as a yard dog CB.
Last night was good, if he can keep it up ,great, but I doubt he can without reverting to type, and I will still be happy to see him payed off and a manager appointed who unites us all.

I'm not saying we hoof it but why on kick offs we launch it to the opposition right back? I'd rather we passed it about
I'd rather that too but I think the problem at kick off is all our players are in our half which means that as soon as the ball is kicked you are under pressure in your own half from the opposition (especially in the Premier league). So it's easier and pragmatic to hoof and relieve the pressure rather than make a mistake straight from kick off and give the opposition a chance.

It will be. No Everton side since 1996 has won at Arsenal away and whoever our players are, and whoever our manager is, we just can't beat a side perceived to be better/or just actually better than us in these away games.

Bournemouth can, Swansea can, but not Everton.

Touched a nerve with some of our fans. We won last night, against a side that most of us feared would beat us comfortably given their form vs ours, but some still have to be negative in well over 90% of their posts.

A lot just can't handle that Allardyce has improved us from where we were when he came in. That doesn't mean he's the answer long term or that he's a great manager, but he's doing the job he was brought in to do. Avoid relegation and improve our results. Over his time here he's done that taking 16 from 33 which is 1 more point in 3 less games than the previous 2 managers managed in their combined managerial period.

I don't know how much the stereotype is an exaggeration but we are literally the most long ball team in the league since he arrived.

Defenders of the faith are out in force after last night mate. Lets hope we see them at least 3 more times this season as it means we'll be safe.
