I agree but the thinking could possibly be that he can recruit his players in the summer.

You say that but Steve Walsh still has a job despite how much has been spent on a terrible squad!
He has a job at the moment, but no guarantee he will keep it. Few rumours of us looking for a new DOF. Personally I think him and Sam will be both gone in May

Hallejuah, he has seen the light.

'Whatever Farhad says is very positive but I am under no illusions about my position,' said Allardyce. 'I have always said that managers stay in a job when they win football matches. I can't continue to lose football matches. It is as simple as that really.

'There is no point beating about the bush and saying you can have as much backing as you want. There is great backing from the owners but I have to win matches to reassure them I'm the right man for the job.

'While that support is there, it is my responsibility to alleviate the pressure on everybody - him (Moshiri) included - by winning football matches. There are areas where we have slipped up, particularly on our defensive resilience.'

Saving grace. For his fat payoff

The knives are out Matt.

Bascombe, with a hint of Kenwright - for your consideration @orly

"You will not hear many around Goodison argue he will or even should stay long-term – that would not be politically savvy given the weight of opinion – but plenty feel the more pertinent question is what did majority shareholder Moshiri expect when he made the appointment?

There were enough warnings how the campaign would evolve if there was not a marked improvement, any hint of tolerance dissipating with every colourless defeat."

Dominic King, with the info

"Paulo Fonseca, the Shakhtar Donetsk manager, will be available at the end of the season when his contract expires; he is keen to work in the Premier League and would be a leading candidate to take over should Allardyce be replaced.

"This has been a dreadful season and it is inconceivable that there will not be changes in the summer; Steve Walsh, the Director of Football, is under scrutiny after overseeing the club's failed transfer policy with Marcel Brands, PSV Eindhoven's talent-spotter, being firmly admired."

Andy Hunter, offers nothing.

He mentions - " winning matches " three times there.

The way that reads, is that he`s been told that he`s had his chance and blown it.

Let`s see how he sets the team up on Saturday.

Please boo the house down on Saturday anybody who is going the game. The only way this fella is leaving before end of his contract is if the fans force him out.
