think he will start tbh.
Hope so!

Not many teams will be able to live with him and Kaks with Ross flying around behind them and Naismith being added to the fold to cause all sorts of havoc.

And that's not mentioning the best full back duo in world football and genuine quality in Mirallas on the wing.

Let's give him Etw'o more years

Good interview with O'Keefe in the Echo

He said: “My goal is clear. I came here to help this club win things and the Europa League is a big one. I have never won it.
“The fans here are incredible - 7,000 at least went to Lille. They followed us to Russia. The only thing I want to say to them is that I will always give them the best of myself. I will do everything to get results and give them pride.”
...
But asked what he said to convince Martinez he still had the necessary hunger to make an impact despite having three Champions League winners medals among his surplus of achievements, he is clearly irked. “It’s incredible that people still ask me this. Before I met with Roberto there were a lot of other clubs who wanted to speak with me and ask me to sign for them. “The question was always: are you still hungry for victory?

“Even when I’m old and retired I will always want to win. I’ll still want to play football. “Being in a stadium playing the game at the top level – it makes me happy. But even when it’s all over and I play with my friends back home I will still want to win. Always. Why would I not enjoy playing football? I adore it. It’s my passion – something which brings me so much pleasure.”

Great to see adjacent to that article in the paper, a piece on how Samuel Eto'o is mentoring Lukaku and Barkley. He comes across with true humility ....
"I knew of Ross before I came here, and when I met Roberto to talk about the team, he was one of the people I was asking about. It is a pleasure and an honour for me to play with him and I think he can become this unique player that everyone dreams of. He has the same type of quality as Wayne Rooney had when he was here and he can even be better. Hes still young so its our work now to be around him and make sure he improves and delivers what he should deliver. I think we need to wait until the end of the season to see the kind of impact my advice will have on the younger guys. Not only on Romelu Lukaku, but a lot of the talented younger players in the dressing room that I think I can benefit. We will see then what influence I have been able to have."

How brilliant that weve got this man...a real coup for RM. But not just for his class and skill on the pitch, but also his class and influence off it. I love the way he says "our" and "we" like a real Evertonian. His humility is outstanding for a man who has not only achieved so much in football but also has nothing else to prove to anyone else in football. Sheer class.

It's clear Martinez is giving the Europa League a lot of respect. I just wish he would have given the LC the same amount of respect this and last season. Our domestic cups represent our only realistic way of ending a criminal 24 year trophy drought.

I am sure Sammy was signed with the EL in mind, but he looks like he enjoys working with young players and passing on his experience in a semi coaching role, something the ego's at Chelsea would never allow to happen.

I had my reservations about him, I must say. He looked like he was here for the final big pay day and I expected to see him waltz off and miss big chunks of the season 'injured'.

He's been excellent. It's a long season like, but he hasn't done too much wrong so far.

would be just our luck to have him do his CL or something today!
Please Sammy, never get injured...please!!!

I am so proud you are playing for Everton!!!! :)

Would have loved to have done well in the LC as agree on its importance.

But given our first year back in Europe for a while, the early injury list and trying to get some long term injured back into the team in, I can understand why he fielded the team he did. Perhaps the league cup was just one step too far this season, having a break midweek was probably very helpful to the entire team this week.

I'm very hopeful though that we won't have too much longer for Martinez to win us some silverware.
