Love him but he can't play up top on his own,

Swansea
Lille
Krasnador

3 games he's played up top alone and we havent won any of them and have never troubled the oppositions defence, I think his best position is behind the striker where he can use his movement/ability on the ball to open up space for the forward. His through ball to mirallas in the wolfsburg game and his performance against Burnley only highlight this further. But again it leaves us with a dilemma of Barkley, eto'o and Naismith all best suited for 1 position.

Agreed. He also gets more time when withdrawn behind a front man.

He scored a beautiful 2nd goal against Burnley playing up top alone after Lukaku went off.

He is probably better in the role against a tiring defence but we are going to have to start him there several times this season - we have too many games for Lukaku to manage them all and the only other alternate strikers are Kone(injured), Naismith (best position #10), Mirallas (injured and not his best role anyway) or one of the youngsters.

Did you nip out to make a cup of tea when Sammy "troubled" the Krasnador defence?

And whilst he never won the game for us, he sure as heck saved us from defeat.

:)

pretty sure lukaku was up top with him when he scored mate (Lukaku changed the game coming on) same way to a lesser extent against lille. People believe if you critique a player it means your saying he's crap, he's a classy player but those 3 games are testament to the fact that he's not as effective playing as a lone striker heck his season for Chelsea also shows this.

People have short memories this time last season evertonians were laughing their asses off that we had lukaku whilst Chelseas strike force which included eto'o couldn't score a goal.
