Furthermore, maybe we will now actually see if some of the rumours regarding Eto'o being a disruptive influence were true.

This bonding time in Qatar is vital, as I sincerely believe that Palace will be an extremely difficult challenge.

Genuinely hope they weren't. Will only strengthen various people's resolve re: not taking risks on players who might upset the balance. We need dressing room cohesion, but we also aren't overwhelmed with incoming options.

When times are bad, you always get a multitude of 'reliable stories' emerging as people are attempting to justify the rut. That's human nature.

Many, if not the majority of these stories, are simply unsubstantiated speculation, which people produce for a number of reasons.

Like yourself I'm partly hoping this wasn't true either as effects may not simply disappear with his departure; disruption can last much longer.

However, I do tend to find it somewhat surprising that we've actually let him leave mid season, when we're not exactly at our best.

Thus, if he has been a disruption then his removal may help improve things in the squad. Sometimes you cannot buy that kind of factor.

Or am I just going along the lines of every cloud has a silver limning and all that? Let's just hope it is the right decision either way.

I think we all came out of Turf Moor believing we'd found a real gem in Sammy Boy; his age was no concern as he was still a tremendous player.

Unfortunately, since that beautiful Sunday afternoon he has shown little signs of such prowess. Shame really...
I thought we'd found another Peter Beardsley that day......oh well.

Disagree with a few posters on here saying that "They're glad to see him go". I honestly think Martinez used him incorrectly in the majority of games, leading him to 'under-perform'. Thanks for the memories, Sammy.

They've left the passwords to the site, Twitter and Facebook in the 'changies' at Goodison along with the 'How to Play' manual.
It wouldn't surprise me if they're still negotiating with Eto'o while he stands there in his Sampdoria shirt.

Clueless they are.
