Trying to maintain a positive aura over the whole affair, I do have one plus from his departure.

With some of the wages saved, I'd now expect to see Garbutt given a meaningful, long-term contract by the club.

bit gutted like, poor decision on our part i believe. i'll see what/if replacement we get before getting too down, i'm sure there's things gone on that we possibly won't hear about that made this decision.

ah, who really cares.

He was about 5 years younger in fairness, need more legs to play on the wing than Eto'o has now.

The implication was Eto'o had never played out wide before I was just pointing "bra

Wouldn't you rather see the money put towards a linking type player like Pienaar or Osman?

I heard he was a bad apple, tbf. Probably best out of the club for the sake of unity. Club insider *taps nose*

Of course, and as I mentioned in another thread I am already relatively confident that a replacement (or a new addition) will be brought in.

However, that doesn't mean a new contract for Garbutt isn't also an option available to the hierarchy of the club.

With an offer around the £15k per week mark, we will be securing down a great prospect for the club and someone who can now contribute.

That still leaves £85k per week from Sammy's wages to be invested in a new player and his wage demands. Easy way to appease fans.

You think Eto'o was on 100k a week?

Garbutts gone, if he was gonna sign he would have already.

I'd be very surpised if Eto'o was on anything above £60k pw.

Garbutts a decent prospect but if he doesn't want to stick around it could have more to do with his path into the first team rather than a few extra grand a week.

For some reason Evertonians seem to be paranoid.
Its probably an honest desicision.
There will be incomings.

I think Garbutt is daft if he leaves.
He has worked hard to get in the first team squad.
There will be an agent in his ear thats for sure.

Yeah me to but to be fair to the lad he needs games now and theres two better leftbacks ahead of him so it's going to be very difficult to shift them both. He'd be trusting Martinez a lot if he's promised playing time in his situation and considering there's been an offer sitting on the table for a bit it doesn't look promising.

Maybe a desicision has to be made to get rid of Oviedo or Garbutt.
I would like to keep Garbutt though.
