Beef and mustard is top notch, as too is bacon or gammon.

Big shout for actual roast chicken too. No flavourless breast fillet thanks.

Coronation chicken reigns supreme.

These are the ones I dived for when we were given sarnies while waiting to do a parents evening at school - in order of favourites - best first:

Coronation chicken
Tuna mayo
Egg
Ham salad

There were others. They didn't gain my attention.

One day there was no coronation chicken. I wrote a lament: "ode to a coronation chicken sandwich" and gave it to the canteen. They probably spat in the coronation chicken sandwiches after that, but at least we had them.

They still survive - well in my house anyway, had a few crisps on my pastrami sarnie yesterday - and will today with the other half of the meat.

What flavour is best with pastrami? when I'm feeling decadent I double up pastrami with german peppered salami. Maybe even a squeeze of aioli. Wraps don't cut it vs bread.

My missus has unexpectedly made me a so called ‘cheese and onion’ sandwich for tomorrow, so based on experience I shall be looking to go to McDonalds at lunch tomorrow
