Was served some mini ones once as a hors-d'œuvre made with quail eggs, they were very pleasant one bite treats.

The evolution of the soft boiled scotch egg is the greatest advance in food technology since cheese was put onto slices of toast, perhaps even the toaster, dare I say the advent of sliced bread itself.

Can I get a posh scotch egg anywhere.

Try a decent butcher. You'll get good quality scotch eggs. It's sausage meat coated in breadcrumbs with an egg in the middle. Sometimes you get variations - black pudding added in or chill etc. The co-op ones aren't a great starting point.

Edit: you can et hot or cold.

I do like one's with black pudding in

On my annual visit to a Waitrose I'll normally pick one up

I've never had one. I like every element so there is no reason not to, just never managed to eat one. Though I only progressed to Pork Pies a few years ago.

The posh ones are great, some pubs will do them. The small Tesco style ones are horrible

There's some incredible posh ones at Waitrose deli.. (I dont shop there. Mother in law works there and brings lots of freebies round for us)

I was at a food market the other month and I bought a veggie scotch egg by mistake.

Potato , Cheese and Chives.

Have to say it was unreal.
