Scotland’s Greatest Night

Should be an interesting game, we’ve got England tomorrow, then Spain away in the next Euro qualifier then France in a friendly. So it’ll be interesting to see how we do against some of the top teams in Europe.

I’m looking forward to that too, you‘ve already beaten Spain once, setting an example to some other nations that have given up trying to compete because of their population.

Crazy as it sounds but if we were somehow to fluke a win against the Spanish in Seville, we’ll top the group and be seeded in the Euro draw

You get nations like Croatia that somehow managed to compete with the top teams consistently and they’ve got a small population, less than Scotland, I think. Uruguay is another.

Aye you’re correct. The countries with the biggest populations are mainly crap at footy too. It’s a proper poor excuse.

The European teams that stick out to me is Poland, Ukraine, Russia. For their populations they’ve not done much at international or club level. I don’t think a Polish club team has ever won any European competition.
Pretty sure FC Zenit beating Rangers in Manchester was the only time a Russian club has won a European tournament

In preparation for undoubtedly the biggest occasion in Scottish football history tomorrow night, I thought we should take a bit of time to reflect back on the most magical of all moments in Scottish football up to this point. This should serve as inspiration to the lads, a momentous occasion that truly will never be forgotten.

What a night this was, look at those scenes. It brings a tear to my eye and makes me proud to be 2% Scottish *dons bagpipes and kilt and puts on Braveheart opening credits*

Just being afforded the privilege of sharing the same pitch as our Southern overlords is beyond our wildest dreams.

If we manage to keep the score to single figures it will be the biggest result in our little history 🙏🙏🙏

I think I remember CSKA Moscow winning the UEFA Cup years and years ago but yeah it’s rare. The Russian teams are always stacked with Brazilians too. The national team hasn’t done anything, final of the Euros when it was still the USSR is about it.

I’ll be honest it’s a thin line we’re walking, we want to give England a good pumping but not such a beating that Southgate gets sacked
To be fair, I think Southgate is a great coach for them. A euro final and WC semi with Mcguire and Henderson is very impressive

Right I never knew about CSKA Moscow. I think when it was the USSR, the best players came from Ukraine and other nations rather than Russia itself. I can remember a few Dynamo Kiev players in the USSR, Blochin for example

The tournament draws have been unbelievably kind to him. If you scratch the surface slightly beyond just the result, it reveals that he’s been very fortunate. Losing to the worst Italy side of all time in the Euros final told me everything I need to know about Southgate. A career failure and truly abysmal manager, he’ll never get another job in management ever again.
