Scotland’s Greatest Night

The tournament draws have been unbelievably kind to him. If you scratch the surface slightly beyond just the result, it reveals that he’s been very fortunate. Losing to the worst Italy side of all time in the Euros final told me everything I need to know about Southgate. A career failure and truly abysmal manager, he’ll never get another job in management ever again.
Everton ? I bet he does a mean Power Point presentation

Whilst were talking about international football. Here’s a thought for you. How many “World Class” players has England produced? It’s not that many all things considered. They’ve produced plenty of players a level below world class, lots of excellent players. But very few top, top players.

You all try to claim Andy Murray like he’s yours though
I couldn’t believe it when I first heard of Andy Murray. I think it was when he won the Junior US open. Thought there was some kind of mistake. Scotland doesn’t play tennis and we certainly don’t produce world class players. Andy Murray is a freak, it could easily be 100 years or more before Scotland produces another player of his calibre, if ever.

World class is extremely rare. Only a handful of players per generation could be considered such. I’d even stop short of calling Rooney world class in his prime, he wasn’t far off it by any means, but I don’t think he’d have got into the Barcelona or Real Madrid sides from that era.

I wouldn’t say Rooney was World Class, I’d say he was the level below.

It completely depends on what your definition of world class is

I can think of maybe 4 Scots that maybe “World Class”, and I’m talking in the recent past, from the 1960’s onwards, I’m not sure about players before then.
Kenny Dalglish, Dennis Law, maybe Jimmy Johnstone and maybe Jim Baxter.
