Just back from an impromptu session with a couple of mates at my local pub, got chatting to Ally McLeod, ex Hibs Captain who is a regular, he's a decent guy and we had a good laugh.

Highland league just isn't the same without Fort William being bottom.League season has started for me already mate, and the “ Big Six” Highland League teams all started with a win on Saturday. A real nail bighter for me with Buckie Thistle going 1-0 down on 70 minutes at home, equalising two mins later and getting the winner in 90 +2 mins. It’s going to be a cracking season in what two journalists last week described as the “ the best league in the world” . Well , best steak pies certainly , but watching fitba with your mates on a balmy July Saturday standing six foot away from the action does take some beating ?
Eh? There are only two “ East Coast” teams, Brechin and Banks O’ Dee, with 1 year in the current Highland League between them, I doubt they’ll be starting campaigns. Wick , and Brora, are competitive with supporters who travel and don’t complain too much. Most people recognise the division of tier 5 Scottish football into “ Highland League” and ‘ Lowland League” as sensible names, would you rather “ ‘ Central Belt” and “ Non -Central Belt”?Highland league just isn't the same without Fort William being bottom.
I'm sure it won't be long before the East coast teams start their campaign to get rid of Wick too. They can then just rename it the Grampian league and we can start a proper Highland league again. With teams from the Highlands.
I suppose "East coast" may be inaccurate. "East of the Highlands" may be a more accurate term.Eh? You always seem angry and critical of the Highland League when you post.
Please don’t mention the name ‘Brora’ on here, please.Eh? Well the 5 Moray clubs are long standing members, but I take your point about an eastern drift . Apart from the recent two newcomers two Aberdeenshire clubs , Formartine and Turrif, plus Strathspey Thistle (Grantown ) joined in 2009. Now there’s a defined pathway to the HFL , it’ll be interesting to see if the North Caledonia League clubs like Golspie, Invergordon and Fort have the ambition and resources to compete against other leagues for promotion. Money and local population will always be a big factor.I suppose "East coast" may be inaccurate. "East of the Highlands" may be a more accurate term.
Isn't it only in the last 10 or 15 years that there has been the big influx of teams from Grampian and Moray? I certainly don't remember them being in the league when I left 25 years ago. I'm pretty sure I remember there was a Highland, Lowland and Eastern leagues- it just seems the Eastern league is replacing the Highland league team by team.
And not angry. In fact most of my posts are self mocking Fort William (as my last post started off with)
Brilliant news. These guys have done a tremendous job and I’m pleased that they’ve extended their contracts.
Ann Budge deserves a lot of credit for saving the club back in 2014 and getting the new stand built.Pleased you're happy mate, your club seem to be moving in the right direction, we'll swap blue Bill for Ann Budge. ?
Good luck in the coming season, I'm always willing someone to challenge the old firm.Ann Budge deserves a lot of credit for saving the club back in 2014 and getting the new stand built.
Her role at the club as ‘Chairman’ is more nominal now. The club is now fan owned. Andrew McKinlay is the CEO and Joe Savage runs the football department (and is doing a great job).
Hearts are now in a great place on and off the park. Every game at Tynecastle will be a home sell out this season. The challenge now is to get to those delicious Euro group stages year on year. …and beat Rangers in a cup final ?

Our last proper challenge was 97/98 with our team of Davie Weir, Gary Naysmith, Colin Cameron, Stephane Adam, Stevie Fulton etc. We got close.Good luck in the coming season, I'm always willing someone to challenge the old firm.
I was hoping (but not expecting) that he’d come back to Hearts and get at least eight games of Europa football. But this was always Everton’s call to make.Thoughts on Simms opting for a Sunderland loan this time @HeartofMidlothian?
