Thanks to Gio for his efforts. His Rangers team were only beaten by the lottery of penalties in last seasons Europa League final, and Rangers won a Scottish Cup under him as well.

However things have gone a bit awry this season, and a change of direction is badly needed. Hopefully the new manager will do a great job. Gio did his best but it sadly wasn't good enough. We move on and wish him the best of luck in the future.

He took Rangers to a european final, so his reign most certainly was not a total and utter failure. I think he is a very good manager, but sometimes things just don't work out.
A very good manager, who jumped ship as soon as he could.
Come on corky, you've overstretched the plaudits there.
I'd say he found his level up here, and that's it.
He'd have been pushed this season with Ang getting Celtic ticking.

What do they really expect the new manager to do?

Out of Europe, Celtic cruising to the Title

Outside of Celtic combusting, I can't see Rangers getting back in it now
They'd probably expect the same as the current manager, but he failed - be competitive in Europe, don't drop out of the title race in September.

Both of those things Gio didn't do.

In fairness the question Mikey was asking really was stupid. This is the old firm this is Rangers, you can't just sit back and placidly accept being second fiddle to Celtic.
