I think it's unfair to penalise the clubs for these events. After all, short of vetting and searching every spectator what can they do? Put up fences around the pitch like in the seventies?
If an individual behaves like that they must face the law of the land.

I agree. What can Birmingham do about the scumbag who hit Grealish, or Hibs do about the moron who ran on to the track on Friday? If you listened tot he media up here you would think there were riots at football.

The reaction up here in the media, and appetite for wanting Hibs to be punished for the bottle thrower, and pitch invader, is somewhat at odds with their reaction when a half wit ran onto the pitch at Ibrox, and tried to get at Scott Brown just over a year ago. Until today, I didn't even know there had ben two different Rangers fans invade the park this season. Now some people are calling for Government action.

Anyone old enough to remember the 70's and 80's will know about the insane violence at football back then. Compared to that, I find the latest bunch of pitch invasions are a bit "meh". The way the BT solemnly reported the idiot who only kicked the ball, on Friday, you'd think Michael Fagan had been spotted entering the grounds of Buckingham Palace with bunch of flowers, and a box of Milk Tray.

The government don't take responsibility for the vast amount of stabbings that happen in the UK, but want clubs to face action if a moron runs onto the pitch.

I was at the "Cantona" game. I went with a mate who was a United fan. We sat in different stands and arranged to meet after the game. When we met up we were pee ing ourselves laughing at what had gone on. We thought it hilarious. We got back to the car and listened to the righteous media induced frenzy and thought WTF? They just wind up the indignation engine, sit back and coin in the advertising money. God knows what TalkCack was like today.

I'm surprised action wasn't taken against Everton when the black cat wandered onto the pitch earlier this season! Animals behaving like fans!

I remember being in the crowd at the Celtic v Rapid Vienna Cup Winners cup tieat Parkhead in 1984,when a bottle was thrown onto the pitch, despite winning the game 3-0 they were ordered to replay the game at Old Trafford because of that incident and lost.
I was at the final in Rotterdam when we lifted the cup, I must have been one of the few to see Rapid knocked out of the competition twice.

There was an instance I guess where Celtic played a heavy price for the stupidity of one fan, unfortunately I can see the authorities going back to that scenario and hammering the clubs and leaving them to sort the mess out. I don't think it's going away anytime soon and we've seen in this week alone how it's been slowly building up to a player being assaulted, with more stories of fans taking drugs when going to games where is it going to end?

As a fan, never mind a player I want to go to games with my sons and Grandsons knowing we can watch the game safely and not have to witness these idiots spoiling our enjoyment and putting any potential success of my club or any other club at risk.
