Whether the songs died out, or not, the two big Glasgow clubs attendances far exceed the two big Edinburgh clubs.
What I can't get over is the media outrage up here over Celtic fans singing about Irish Republicanism, but ignore fans of Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Motherwell, and yesterday Hibs, singing about "Paedos" etc.
Call me an idealist, but the day I go to a stadium, or anywhere really, and celebrate the abuse of children is the day I admit I'm a scumbag. It would appear our media, and Police Scotland, don't agree with me, and don't appear to see anything wrong with it. In todays game Aberdeen fans were singing "We know she said no" to Alan McGregor. Obviously I have no idea what went down, but the police decided the was insufficient evidence to charge anyone over the incident.
Surely only two things could have happened, a young woman was sexually assaulted, or a young man was wrongly accused of sexual assault? Why, itnof, would anyone want to go to a football match and gleefully sing a song about this kind of thing?
