Scott Brown doesn't score for a year or two then scores three important goals almost on the bounce. Celtic deserved their win, through safely into the bag for the semi- finals.
Hibs fans didn't cover themselves in glory with a glass bottle and a coin caught on TV narrowly missing Scott Sinclair.
Hibs might have done better if there had been more fans behind them. Huge gaps on the terrace made for a poor atmosphere.

I don't know the reason why the two big Glasgow clubs get far bigger attendances than the two big Edinburgh ckubs. I know Glasgow has a bigger population, but it's only around 100,000 or so, and Edinburgh's population is getting bigger.

I live in Central Scotland and football definately gets less popular as you go East, they're more rugby types, coupled with the fact there is a mass exodus from so many towns and villages out this way to watch Celtic and Rangers, in fact it would be interesting to know how many season ticket holders from the big two are actually from Glasgow.

Hibs were getting crowds of 17,000 or so at home when they were on a good league run. That's fallen off though. I fear that even season ticket holders take a look out of the window on a Saturday and think: "Nah...."

17,000 is around a 3rd of the crowds Celtic, and Rangers, get. I don't know why the two big Glasgow clubs get much bigger attendances than the two big Edinburgh teams.

Well, if I may be so bold, many of the Old Firm faithful are driven by cultural traditions that go way back and don't have much to do with football but seem to attract a lot of interest in all parts of Scotland, not just locally.

I'm sure I don't have to expand on that!

Don't Hibs have the same cultural traditions as Celtic?

I would say two things tend to influence whIch team you support. Your dad, and your friends.

They used to, of course. Founded as a club for young immigrants to Edinburgh, there was a strong Irish identity like at Celtic. I can remember singing familiar songs following Hibs in the seventies. But we were just pretending really. Hearts fans used to sing the Sash and all that too. And now it's largely died out. Dundee United had similar origins. They were called Dundee Hibernian at one time.

It's all different in the west!

Whether the songs died out, or not, the two big Glasgow clubs attendances far exceed the two big Edinburgh clubs.

What I can't get over is the media outrage up here over Celtic fans singing about Irish Republicanism, but ignore fans of Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Motherwell, and yesterday Hibs, singing about "Paedos" etc.

Call me an idealist, but the day I go to a stadium, or anywhere really, and celebrate the abuse of children is the day I admit I'm a scumbag. It would appear our media, and Police Scotland, don't agree with me, and don't appear to see anything wrong with it. In todays game Aberdeen fans were singing "We know she said no" to Alan McGregor. Obviously I have no idea what went down, but the police decided the was insufficient evidence to charge anyone over the incident.

Surely only two things could have happened, a young woman was sexually assaulted, or a young man was wrongly accused of sexual assault? Why, itnof, would anyone want to go to a football match and gleefully sing a song about this kind of thing?

For many folk a football match is one of the places where they can still behave like animals.

I accept that, but I can't understand why the media, and police, don't seem to have any interest in songs like that, but throw their hands up in horror if Celtic fans sing a song about Irish Republicanism.

I would much rather fans just sang songs about football, but there seems to be incredible double standards when it comes to the reaction to different fans singing up here.

I try not to get too bothered about it now.

Instead of attending Easter Road as I used to on a Saturday and having a few beers and laughs, I'm staring at the screen watching Everton (and not drinking or laughing).
