You could say that Celtic were Rangers best friends - on the basis that their rivalry helped polarised around themselves whole communities in conflict with each other and allowed them to cash from it...it's not called the Old Firm for nothing. Same difference with the Edinburgh two.

I’ve read before that Hearts got grief for playing Hibs when other teams wanted them ostracised. The very fact that they played four replays in the 1875 EFA Cup shows that Hearts were determined to play Hibs. The scores in the final were 0-0, 1-1, 1-1, 1-1, 1-1 and finally settled with a 3-2 win for Hearts.

I watched the 2nd half of Motherwell v Hibs, it was a great advert for the SPL, both sides went for it but I thought the difference was down to a very vocal and enthusiastic Hibs away support who roared their team to victory.

A very enjoyable game.
Hibs should have had a penalty in the 1st half (IMO) so justice was done with the 2nd half pen.
Not sure why the Motherwell player was booked though it’s not like he deliberately stuck his arm out. The ball struck him. Deff penalty though and good finish.

TRIFC headhunted a man who had done well at Southampton as their director of football role, while Celtic appointed a guy from rugby union as their director of football! The newco's guy will have contacts in football all around the globe to call on about players. What football contacts will a rugby guy have?

In my opinion, the Celtic board make their decisions based on finance, while the newco make their decisions based more on the football side of things. The chickens have come home to roost now for Celtic, after a period in which Rangers were liquidated, and the newco worked its way up the leagues for a few years.

Sorry about quoting my own post, but I got a tad mixed up there. Dominic McKay, the rugby guy, is Celtic's CEO, not Director of Football, so he won't need too many football contacts, unless he's planning on doing a Peter Lawwell, and appointing himself as the unofficial DOF?
