It’s absolutely massive. Celtic could tie down Carter-Vickers and Jota without having to run their usual sell to buy/sustainable system

Ideally need a left back too

I still think Celtic will continue with selling their top players and using the money to fund replacements as it's the clubs business model, but with Champions League qualification surely it means there is less pressure on the club to offload their stars?

Although I want Celtic to win every game/competition they enter, I don't think the Champions League is fair. It gives one team too much of an advantage.

In the old days it was just about the glory of winning the league, and playing in the European Cup. I don't think there was too much difference financially if you were playing in the European Cup, the CWC, or the UEFA Cup. Iirc, the UEFA cup had one more round than the other two so it may have been more beneficial financially to compete in that competition.

Nowadays if you get into the group stages you are guaranteed tens of millions, I dont know what the exact figure is. This allows teams to sign better players, assuming Peter Lawwell doesn't control anything and tries to penny pinch over transfers that is.

Fair point mate and year on year that passes, I’m convinced money is ruining the game, by that I mean it’s becoming more corrupt, Fifa, Uefa, PL, SPL etc - to much money involved now for there no to be at worst corruption and at best bias. To my mind the new CL qualification system and FFP rules are a case in point, it’s pulling the ladder up on a cosy cartel.

For Celtic CL qualification is massive, Celtic posted a 12 mill loss, just under half of what Rangers did, CL group revenue plugs a big Covid shaped hole in Celtic finances. I expect this year result should be similar yet Celtic took in big money 30 mill + on Edouard, Ajer and Christie. So the accounts should be healthy enough in the coming coup,e of years.

The CL revenue ahould it come to pass and hugely enabling in assisting Ange to develop the squad especially when you consider, the last time 2018 when Celtic made the group stages it was worth £30 mill - before you factor in gate revenue and increased commercial deals, I make it now worth between 40-50 million, it’s massive.

By contrast Rangers posted a 23 mill loss in a title winning season, only operating through shareholder loans, their auditors have announced they are a going concern, while they have been and continue to be dragged through the courts by creditors and former commercial partners. On the + side they sold Patterson and they have their European run this year - all that would help but the scale of their trouble is bigger. Therefore the CL money is going to be a huge shot in the arm in progression and decline between the two.

We may see a needed big departure from Rangers this summer, Kent, Aribo, Morallas maybe, probably their most sellable.

The fanboys dont care as long as they get to watch Man City and Liverpool clock 95 points each a season.

That's one way of looking at it I suppose.

Another would be he took over TRFC when they had a 6, or 5, point lead at the top, and now they trail Celtic by 6 points.

As for dominating the game at Ibrox, TRFC hardly created a chance after the first 15 minutes, Celtic had a few great chances and, once again, should have put the game well out of sight.

I admit he's had a terrible run of injuries lately, but so did Postecoglou earlier in the season when you were mocking him, so if I can answer your 'How is Angeball working out for you?' question with a question. How is it working out for you? ?
Frustrating tbh, reason being that although his style has worked well domestically, outside of Scotland his team is dispatched with relative ease by any team with a modicum of footballing ability about them.
We messed up throwing points away in games that we were leading and somehow contrived to shoot ourselves in the foot with some unbelievable defensive howlers.
But I'll give him credit that he stuck with his principles of how he likes to play football and it has paid off for him and unlike us celtic ground out the result in games where they were maybe not at their best.
So as I said frustrating but more to do with ourselves than Ange tbh!!

I agree.

Maybe it's because I'm an old count, but the amount of money, and cheating on the field, is off the scale compared to the old days.

You don't think just maybe a team going undefeated for 7 months, and beating their rivals home and away in that time, totally deserves to win the title?

When was the last time Rangers dispatched Celtic with relative ease? It certainly hasn't been done since Postecoglou took charge. tThat doesn't look good for Rangers in the modicum of footballing ability stakes...

Team that ends the season with more points deserves to win the title, as at the end of the day the table doesn't lie.

Facts are Rangers threw points away and celtic took advantage of that.
The game at Ibrox was eventually the turning point and fair play to celtic they defended well for the majority of that game and took their chances but tbh the amount of draws we have had in the league this season has cost us.

The settling in of a new manager half way through the season and Rangers European run has definitely benifitted celtic and they deserve the title for being consistent domestically, as for footballing ability, as I said, in the last two Old Firm games and in reaching a European semi final, there has been plenty of evidence that Rangers have plenty!!

If Celtic had taken even only their great chances in that game the result would have been 1 - 4.

Gers were far the better in the second half. Not a bear by any means as a Rovers fan, but a draw was a fair result

I dont know the stats, but on the balance of play I would say Rangers shaded it, but Celtic had two great chances in the first half to finish them off. Jota and Maeda have got to hit the target with those headers.

Until Sakala equalised I thought Celtic were going to win comfortably. After he scored, there's no doubt we were hanging on a bit near the end.
