I just hope ' class is permanant, form is temporary' cos he has been well below par these first three games. Not the Seamus we know.

Baffled by his performance but there again if the manager had taken the armband from me and given it to retiree-in-waiting Baines I'd likely lose a lot of motivation too.

Manager should make up his mind who the captain of this club is and stick with it. That might be affecting his play. Footballers are strange animals.

One of my favorite players, yesterday absolutely shocking in the first half, little bit better in the second. Hope it's just a temporary bad form and not a story about player who once was...

Left to me again eh! Can't cross, can't pass, can't head, can't shoot, gets robbed too often and leaves his players in the lurch, for Christs sake give him
the captains job.

Good article that Andy. Should be a thread.

I have to say I think there's a need (as you imply rather than say) for a leader to be at the heart of the back four prodding, pushing, cajoling others into positions. but I dont think necessarily that means they should be captain. We can have a defensive organiser and another player who sets the tone and is delegated to argue our cause on the pitch to the officials. Maybe Coleman shrank last week with the armband (though he knew it was for a game only...and in any case he gave Mark Hughes an earful at one point), but it was one game and he needs to be made skipper permanently to carry that mantle (any captain has to have that assurance).

Silva didn't help matters by this week saying he has three captains. That's just fence sitting.
