How so?

Both Ireland and Everton players and both out their country before their club given their terrible injury records.

Coleman has averaged 31 appearances a season for 10 years, and played 30 times last season and the season before that. In his last three seasons at the club McCarthy played twenty times in total.

“Never fit for the club”

No problem with him playing for Ireland but given he’d broken down in the derby ,only just come back against the mancs and it being a hamstring injury you’d think he’d be a little circumspect this time.

Not helped by the fact that the drop off in quality between him and any potential replacement at RB is a chasm

Players are dropping like flies in every team because of trying to cram everything into a shorter season.

Hardly much different to other seasons....the media are making a thing of it simply because Liverpool are getting injuries this season unlike last season....Man City had a massive amount of key injuries last season, and at no point did it become the narrative of the media that it was any kind of factor worth highlighting...

Our injuries are no different to previous years (we've been affected by silly suspensions), Man Uniteds injuries hasn't been any different, no club has any real issues out of the norm...just one club with players losing their lives...

Coleman has been picking up injury after injury since he returned from the leg break, it's not a new thing this season either...

This is media BS

I'm glad we decided we didn't need to buy a right back this summer, great decision

Along with letting Walcott go, it was really bloody stupid.

Spending 25 million on a Norwich centre back whilst persisting with a 32 year old Coleman at right back, who becomes Jonjo Kenny every time he is injured, and then letting Walcott go.

Unbelievable.

Horrible thread this tbh, violently flickers between "Our captain, he's found his form again, his pace is back" to "been finished for years lad, we all knew he was done la, can't come back from that break, weak link" Very annoying but equally shows a fan base with hugely, almost unbelievably, differing opinions about 1 player - if nothing else it shows the passion we all have but also how thick some are

Been one of the reasons we started the season so well.

Massive gulf in class between Coleman and any other rb we have.

Definitely need to get on in in January.

We did the same thing with Baines, never planned for the future buying a younger left back and continued to flog him until his legs fell off. Then acted shocked when he started getting injuries and we didn’t have anyone to step in. We are just not proactive as a club and are far too sentimental.

Can’t see it, unless we can get rid of Kenny. What if we buy a new one then can’t get Kenny out in January or the summer? Stuck with 3 senior right backs on the books then.

So? One is old and injury prone and the other is clearly crap, of course we need to buy another right back as a priority. We can worry about shifting Kenny later.
