I really like Seamus so it’s hard to say, but the guy has captained his club and his country during periods where both have declined. Maybe it’s all the players around him, but maybe it’s not. But it feels like he gets new managers so often who are immediately impressed by his great off-field attitude and are desperate for him to play when his actual performance no longer deserves it.
He should be stripped of the captaincy immediately after overseeing that absolute collapse as soon as we conceded the equaliser. I see no captain traits in him at all on the pitch, and on top of that he’s our worst player. Why would you have your worst player as captain? Is it any wonder no standards are being set?

Scared to tackle ASM all night. Arse fell out. Hasn’t got the fitness as a top level right back anymore, can get up field but struggles to get back. We were exposed time and time again down Coleman’s side. It was definitely a side Newcastle chose to attack down. Knowing fine well coleman isn’t the player he once was.
I feel sorry for Gary Stevens. In my eyes, he genuinelly was the best RB in the league and look at him. Only thirty-seven years mind.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. He cannot be captain of the club and put in these sort of performances. The armband needs to be taken off him because he can't lead by example. Against a good winger with a bit of pace, he is out of his depth. The second goal comes from him being beaten 1 v 1 in a phone box width of space.
Trippier is everything he isn’t in an experienced player by the way. Clearly he’s a much better player but their mentalities are worlds apart too, he is a proper leader and has lifted them since the day he came in. Has the type of attitude we desperately need in the squad, none of this meek, timid, hands up apologetically crap.
I thought he linked up fine going forward 1st half but wow that was some levels below acceptable that 2nd half.
