Seamus has been a great servant for us and a very good professional. His time is over now, or at least it should be. It’s sad to see him struggling with the pace of the game and making costly mistakes, but, time waits for no man. There were a few seasons when Seamus and Leighton Baines were, in my opinion, as good as any full back partnership in the league. Leighton had the sense to know when the party was over, unfortunately for Seamus, the enthusiasm he has shown throughout his career is blinding him to the fact that, at this level, he is done.

It really is down to the club now to sign somebody who allows us to take Seamus out of the firing line and use him for cameo appearances only until the end of the season when he should be released. All good things come to an end and I’d love Seamus to go while we still remember the good days.

Well said but Seamus himslef knows that he is not up to it any more. HJe should tell the boss he is finished and retire not keep dragging on. That would force us to get a replacement,

Currently an absolutely terrible right back so the tactical genius thinks he can be an effective left wing back.

Absolutely shocking managerial decision.

If that's not a manager trying to chuck a game on purpose then I don't know what is. He had a fully fit left back on the bench, or worse case scenario you keep Godfrey there.

But oh no our genius of a manager thins we should go 3 at the back and put a massively out of form right back to left back.

I didnt watch the match currently at work but I just glimpsed at the lineup and was flabberghasted that he put a 33 year old rapidly declining right back on the opposite wing. Especially as Digne was on the bench?? Regardless of the row with Benitez and his decline in form , if you're not opting for godfrey it's got to be digne. At least until the new dude settles in. Just baffling as you'd think the three in the back setup would suite digne's style to bomb forward.

He needs to step down and be on the bench. Buy Patterson and let him play. Just like playing Gordon and let them gain experience. This season is over we just need to stay up.

Whether you blame the manger for playing him instead of Digne. No yes the manager picked the team and formation and needs sacking tonight.

But how after 2 mins he’s holding hands with Holgate in the box and and leaves their RB in acres of space to take a touch and cross it into the box. Yes our CB’s should have done better with the cross, but you’re a wing back get out there and do your job. Absolutely braindead.

A wing back system you wing back who can attack and go forward and at least one CB who’s technically great and can drive forward into midfield, as you should always have a spare man, we had neither.

Basically 5 players in a line all scared off the ball
