C’mon, he’s been an amazing pro for us but I’ve always criticised him as being a soft arse captain. Had his chance tonight and “held back” apparently, like it even mattered if he didn’t.
I dont think he's soft on the pitch. I've seen him get wound up and step up.
No more or less than Tarkowsky/Jagielka/Neville/Weir what ever other captains over the years.
He never says anything controversial in pressers but I'd imagine for the most part thats probably a requirement of club captain.

The Palace game was ideal for Seamus Coleman after his long absence as they never exactly ran the legs off the guy, which was good for him and the team. I like Seamus and it was nice to see him playing and putting in an okay performance. He'll be a great Patterson backup for the remainder of the season.
*Pulls up chair grabs the popcorn 🍿 waits for the loon's.

Ha ha ha.

On a night when Mykolenko wasn't outstanding and Tarkowski was sloppy at times, Coleman and Branthwaite were the team's outstanding performers.

Branthwaite, of course, will end up winning the game's highest honours elsewhere. His positional sense is first class and his range of passing very good for a CB. He's well ahead of Stones in his development at this stage. But Seamus underlined again last night - rolling back the years - that he remains the best FB on the club's books by a country mile. He knows when to get behind the ball, knows where the danger is, and he gets up and supports attacks with link up play and some driving runs.

If he wasn't 35 years of age I'd be happy enough with our RB situation, but he is and we need to be bringing in a replacement this summer.

He wasn’t outstanding though. He was good, generally solid. But palace were pretty trash. He made that excellent interception just in front of Virginia. But until 30 mins, Palace just let us have the ball.

They then hit our byline 3 times down our right before half time and got the ball across and Myko cleared one off the line when they did.

The stuff you would go in incredibly hard on Patterson for.

I’m not criticising him for that; just stating what happened and your own double standards.

He was good but not outstanding and they were pretty trash.
