John Hurst was a very average inside forward when he broke into the team in the late 60's but the Cat made a very good central defender out of him.

And retained his number 10 shirt throughout his Everton career whilst playing centre back, a rarity in those days.

He was well in his way to becoming an excellent RB until injury ruined him.

...I thought about him, Khalekan, but didn't include because I was talking about forwards who revert to full back. As you say, Snodin was brilliant when converting and was on the verge of an England call up when the curse of the hamstring struck.

Similarly, Tony Hibbert was a tough tackling centre midfielder in the Youth Cup winning team. To my credit, I actually recommended Hibbert to a lower league manager at that time advising he would be worth trying as a full back. Even I get things right sometimes.

I never heard of the Freedom of a County before

I thought it was just cities and towns bestowed such honours.
