Seamus Coleman

The ban should equal the length of the time before the injured player can play his next competitive match.

If Seamus is out for 12 months, then the leg-breaker should be unable to play for the same time period.

As a former Gaelic footballer, I'm sure he's used to getting his fair share of hefty knocks. Of course this is quite a severe one, but I reckon he'll take it all in his stride.
No way he got to sit on his 'arris last month in Donegal. He'd have been in the bog fitting turf, leg or no leg.

Seamus is probably kicking concrete bollards with his bad leg, aksing the oain if thats the best it can do, then telling it to feck off!

Good news for him and a nice gesture but I think a new 5 year contract is a bit premature from the club considering he may not return the same player from that horrible injury. Lovely bloke like and wish him the best.

Think this might be more about the character than the player.

Koeman went as far as saying he was one of the best professionals so there mustn't be any question marks about his rehab.

May not see the game changing Coleman of a few years ago, but for me he's the most consistent player left in the squad, the most reliable, and can always be counted on to do the what is asked in that right back position. Though there have been criticisms of his defending on occasion he's never really had a bad, bad game.

Based on such consistency, he's been one of the first names on the team sheet for ages and is being rewarded for that.

Reaming to be seen whether he can keep up to a certain level after the injury though, unfortunately.
