2017/18 Seamus Coleman

Also I think 3 at the back and wing backs will ONLY work when Coleman is back. Kenny could have been tried there, but it's too late now. Would rather save 3 + wing backs for later. Baines & Coleman together again

Been thinking this for weeks

We really need to bin off 3 at the back until either Coleman is back or Kenny/Martina steps up.

Holgate is a good defender but offers little going forward.

0:15 - criminally bad underhit cross, but let's say it's pressure;
0:24 - fantastic goal, but are you even really claiming that's the position your body should be in when you're hitting the ball? Absolute miracle it went where it did;
0:40 - poor control, even poorer attempt at a shot, same situation re: body positioning;
0:53 - good TeKkErZ (LAD LAD LAD LAD), shockingly underhit pass;
Nothing to say about next situation, perseverance there, good on him.
1:10 - great assist, nothing bad to say;
1:25 - good run, good tackle to end it, but he was running in a dead end, randomly;
Next two are good;
1:55 - what a fantastically poor shot that was, a miracle it went in;
The next minute or so is just highlights of his face and random tricks in the middle of the pitch against Rooney, who seems not bothered to do anything about it;
3:05 - Great run, fantastic pace, actually forgot the ball near the end, but it's okay, as he managed to cross (decent block, happens);
3:14 - fantastic run, good, headstrong again... then the cross is LITERALLY booting the ball somewhere that isn't for a goal kick. ?????????????;
The rest of the video is pretty random, having 2 situations that managed to reach people (Lukaku one, the other I forgot), ending appropriately at his little keepy-up-run. Glorious that was.

This is a HIGHLIGHT video, of him doing amazing things. Remember when they had that highlight video of, let's say, Messi or CR7 when they miss things? Yeah, I don't.

To go with that - there was a situation late last season where he crossed with his left and everyone had already given up, because they know how much and how well he crosses with his left. To that you can add all the overhit crosses he produces/d per game.

Again, for all that, he's a good defender and is so headstrong and has fantastic pace, which are both points that can salvage his negatives. And when you cross 10 times per game you're bound to have a few dangerous ones, so I'm very okay with him.

But I am 100% wrong so whatever mate.

I liked the tune.

Coleman has been the best most consistent RB in the league for about five years. What never even gets mentioned is he's actually a fantastic defender as well. The amount of times we've seen him come racing out of nowhere to get in a last ditch block over the years! The league is full of good attacking right backs but Seamus has everything. I honestly wouldn't have a single full back in the world over a fit healthy Coleman.

It literally gets mentioned every time, wtf?

Not saying he's turbo gash, he just has many flaws and his crossing is suspect way too often, but he's one of us now, so like Davies he can't do wrong even if he literally dribbles from the kick off and blasts the ball in our net, after which roundhouse kicks Pickford, so who cares really?

Keep in mind he'll be back and he broke his right leg and is incredibly right footed, so I'd be pleasantly surprised if he's still an even halfway decent kicker of the ball personally.

Not really, most people focus on what he can bring to our attack rather than the defensive work he does.

Not really sure the 'one of us' thing works. Barkley got more abuse than anyone in the whole squad last year before he made it clear he didn't want to play for us and Tom has had plenty of criticism over the last few weeks after a poor start to the season. If anything being 'one of us' just over amplifies the praise or criticism whichever direction it's going.

For what it's worth I agree his crossing is poor in general and it's probably something Martina is better than him at but seeing as we don't have target men on the pitch most of the time anyway I'd prefer a direct run into the box and cut back to a cross anyway.

Miss him so much. Cuco and Kenny, though they've tried, have been nowhere near this guy. Thankfully, I think he'll have the right application and determination to be back to his best as soon as possible for him.

This lad driving forward on attacks and cutting in and taking shot on...and when it doesn’t come off busting a lung to get back in position...cannot wait for his return!

Just in case anyone missed this at the weekend. Skip to 1min 40.
Then go back to the "he's not that kind of player" that was spouted when he tackled Seamus.
