Broken legs don't normally take this long to recover from, so January would be very late for that. End of November maybe, it was expected to be October initially.

His leg was shatted in two places and required surgery in late March that included screws and such. Don't think we should be comparing this to some typical leg break.

A double leg break, no matter how horrific it looks, is a much more routine operation than a soft tissue repair, and requires a shorter recovery time. Hence why we'll see him back before Bolasie, and why players' careers are never ended by leg breaks anymore.

It is the mental injury that he now has to overcome, I would say the physical side is more or less alright by now.

Obviously you can never be sure about people overcoming mental injuries etc but if I had to put money on what would hold him back from being the player he was. I would put it on the injury itself he seems to have a very tough mentality and made it to the PL the hard way . The fact that he's down to earth and seems to be a awsome person just makes me like him even more

This bloke can't come back soon enough. Not just cos we've needed a right back since forever, but for his attitude. One fella you can rely on to scrap and get nasty when needed. Should be Captain imo.

Insane how much we’ve missed a right back.
Indeed. Its a shame we don't keep open some of the older threads though as before his injury there were plenty on GOT saying he was finished and we should get rid. As ever the longer a player is away, the better he was and maybe he won't have the same pace he had 3 or 4 years ago but at 29 he's got the experience and game management we need and Im hoping his best years are still ahead of him.
