2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I truly believe that the squad we have is far better than they're allowed to show under Dyche. It's as if his team selection and tactics are aimed at proving his perceived view that he has a poor squad to choose from and that managing to scrape enough points together to keep us up will be an achievement. It shouldn't be, the players we have should have plenty enough to pick up a fair amount more points than we have up to this point and should have easily accounted for Southampton (twice) with more competent selections and team set-ups. If his team-talks are anything like his press conferences our players' confidence must feel crushed before they step out on the pitch.

I think 'far better' is a massive stretch personally. It's hard to argue that he's getting the absolute most out of them and nobody could possibly do better, but I think anyone looking at this squad and thinking they should be in the top half needs to have a lie down in a dark room. For me, up to this point he's always been doing a job that could at worst be classed as 'fine'. I think we're at a little bit of a crossroads right now in that a loss to West Ham would potentially take him out of that zone and into the territory of saying we're genuinely underperforming. People need to get real to some extent though, this is a properly poor squad which has some massive issues in it, nobody is coming in and making them absolutely miles better.

1.7 points behind the Opta curve.

Dare i say XP.

I agree with all this, though I'm not getting too hung up on the West Ham game. I think it's a game that could go either way, and if we're being honest, you'd have to make the spammers slight favourites, so I'm not gonna get too angry if it doesn't go our way.

If we don't get anything at West Ham though, the pressure will really be on him for Brentford at Goodison.

….its not about favourites or pets, his team selection is entirely down to judgement. If Keane continues to be selected it shows a distinct lack of judgement, he adds pace to a back four that lacks pace, he adds quality and attitude and he improves those around him.
Welcome sir eggs, knew you would see the light mate.

If that were true we'd have more than 6 odd wins in a year

It's not a year. It's not 11 months. There was no footy for 3 months so actually I'd like to say it's 8 months, but screw that too, because football never has, nor ever will be, measured in months. The true stat for that period is 30 points from 31 games. Debate whether that's good enough all you want, but please don't trot out soundbites that are akin to propaganda.

Also, why are starting from last December? But I guess that's a different argument.

I don't care about the semantics of it lad. It's an awful record and whatever way you spin it, it proves he doesn't come back stronger after a defeat which was the point.

You're trying so hard.

That should be you're so trying.

He has only won 20 out of his 65 PL games for us so it is impossible that he comes back stronger after a defeat. Maybe the odd one but you are correct, it was a ridiculous statement to make.

Which part do you not agree with?

Didn't realise it was 'semantics' to want use stats in the correct context, with all information provided. That stat is particularly skewed. It's worded, and exaggerated to make it sound as bad as it possibly can do. It's not even up for debate. I've outlined why that is, but feel free to tell me why I'm wrong.

It’s not.
