2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

KEEPING YOU IN A BOX

Don't really get the point Chris?

Back in 2021 nobody wanted Dyche to be Everton manager.

Nobody has ever really wanted Dyche to be Everton manager.

He wouldn't be Everton manager if we weren't a basketcase - he said so himself - day one.

He was brought in to see us through a terrible period. He's close to doing that - I think he's done a great job at that, all considered, but the wheels are coming off now. He'd have gone in the summer and was being replaced by Rangnick if TFG didn't walk away.

Well, first of all, we never bunkered down for a 0-0 draw against the Saints, we pressed them quite often. There was even times in the first half when Michael Keane was leaving his centre back position and joining the press. It's almost like people don't watch the game or don't understand what they are watching being that blinded by preconceptions.
Is that the game when we played a team that hadn't won all season and we just happily allowed them to control the game at will in the hope we could snatch a goal??

There's some interesting comments about goals from you in the Lampard thread (ye, ye, 2 years ago blah, blah) certainly some interesting ones about Mcneil and DCL. Lots of gnashing of the teeth and pointing out that none of them have a record of scoring at this level.
So we still have Alex Iwobi, Gray and Maupay leading our line do we??

Appropriate, I'd say?! 😜

Realllllly??

People wanted Dyche way before 2021

Yeah of course Dyche said we are a basket case of a club; how else is he supposed to distract the attention away from his awful performances. Its easy to tell the world its not your fault when you've won 7 games in a calendar year

Some fans accepted the reality of the situation and supported Dyche, as manager of their club.

But no chance anyone ever really wanted him as manager years back.

Dyche said on day one of his appointment he wouldn't be Everton manager if the club wasn't in such a state. He was right then, and he's still right now because nothing has changed. Apart from us selling more than we've spent in every window, successive point deductions and an even more absent ownership.

There has always been a small contingent of people who saw Dyche as the ideal Everton manager. Been hearing those shouts for years.
Probably those that equate him with Moyes and have a nostalgic view of that period.
He's no Moyes though

Well you love your polls, in 2019 people wanted him

People recognised we were without a paddle under Lampard and looked at the shortlist of managers available for free, and said Dyche would tick the box. Yes.

But no chance there's fans saying prior the last few years they wanted Sean Dyche.

It's like if you're skint and have to have instant noodles for tea to get you to payday.

Well I specifically mentioned your comments relating to current players. Namely DCL and McNeil.

We also had better goal threats than that. No thanks to you and Frank, Dyche remedied that and brought Doucoure back in from exile.

I also referenced you hanging your hat on how few goals many of them had scored in this league. A point which seems somewhat lost on you when you insist there's a lot more goals in this team. I don't think there is many more goals in the team, certainly not without risking conceding more. Time will tell though I guess. Maybe one day we can revisit this and look back at their goals-coring exploits throughout their careers and I will have been wrong. Who knows...

As for Saints, I'm not sure that's an accurate description either. There was times when we let them have the ball, and there were times when we pressed. I reckon about 20% of the possession they had was just playing easy passes around at the back when we didn't press. Regardless though, that's not what you said anyway. You said we bunkered down for a 0-0 which we absolutely never.

Fair play to you for plowing on relentlessly with this fruitless endeavour.

Excited to see where he ends up.

Nice try. 2.2% mate. That's less than the usual @chicoazul @Bryan+ and me who vote for the most antagonistic answer. Always.

Also, Benitez being top suggests he was the press/bookies favourite. Which always sways votes massively on here.
Still pours water on your argument that "nobody wanted him"

People actually did, like it or not people thought he was a good manager
