2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Francis, Woodcock, Birtles, Shilton, Gray, Bowyer... Marvelous team - the only one in that era who could truly stand toe-to-toe with Liverpool.

I think the Ipswich Town side of the same era was actually even better, football wise, but lacked a little bit of the steel this Forest side had. And that is an essential ingredient in winning leagues and European Cups.
As ever, the spine of the team defines the success.

Yup, so true.

Also, these players had character - which, I know, is undefinable sometimes, but you win nothing without it - regardless of talent. No substitute for proper players.

And a management duo who could fashion a team that was more effective than the 11 individual parts…some feat with some of those players such as Kenny Burns and the ancient Frank Clark as a full back…unprecedented.

They're on the same trajectory as Luton, and are a team that typically run out of steam.

Wolves may end up with sub 30 too.

Didn't you think they would beat Newcastle who were rubbish?

Wolves are not getting sub 30 so you can knock that idea on the head.

Yes I did but I also didn’t expect them to beat Spurs away and Chelsea at home, two fixtures that we got a combined 1 point from and failed to score a goal. They have goals in them and we do not. If we keep Dyche I think Ipswich will finish above us.

Nope, he cannot offensively. As I said, we have regressed so much from creating chances, we were 11th last season on that, and are 20th on big chances created this season.

Yet I have the feeling McNeil is/was basically involved in any chance we create, the only player that create anything, apart from the individual brilliance Ndiaye has every few games. . There was a stat that he was on top of the league early season, and if you check out Everton players McNeil is by far at the top of the last 2 years.

It's by nowhere a defense for Dyche just to say. The 2nd player that is missed for me is Garner, he's very important for the squad.
So essentially we are saying that McNeill is a key man dependancy…if he’s out the team we’re even more buggered than we normally are

The final team to be relegated in 7 out of the last 10 seasons had a minimum of 34 points so there is a good chance based on that probability that 34 points gets you relegated subject to GD

As I said on Friday. Just beating all of Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich at Goodison only gets the team to 26 points so would need another ten points on top of that to be fairly sure of surviving I think.

No guarantee at all of beating Ipswich or Leicester either. Last season of course messed up at home to Luton which handed them their first prem win. Luckily it didn't matter but games in the run in very much do. There's only three games after Ipswich at home and two of them are away to Fulham and Newcastle so will be very high stakes that afternoon.

Lots of work to do.

Few players have character these days, mostly dull, academy kids with not a bit of life experience between them. Not their fault, just the modern game imo
