I do get why they say “custodian” these days; implying the club is bigger than the manager role. But it sums up how his time here felt, like he was on the periphery, passing through, doing a job for his employer. Even if it’s an act, FL threw everything at looking like he was part of the fabric, fighting for the same things as the fans.
Hey ho. I personally think Dyche will have worked his backside off for Everton during his time here, trying to make it work. He’s proud, stubborn and I’m sure dedicated. And apparently a very nice bloke outside of football. Came down to ability and probably personality in the end.
