2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Now that the dust has settled, if the rumours are true about him going to the chairman and saying that he couldn't take the squad any further are true - it shows the measure of the men.

He has been a consummate professional since his arrival. A lot of people have long/medium term memory loss, but our goose was well and truly cooked when he arrived - and he turned it around. We lacked any real threat going forward this season, but injuries and the fall off of our main attacking threat had more to do with it than anything he had control over.

In years to come people will look back at his first two seasons and recognise the job that he did.
Friedkins: "We want to back you in January. What do you need to take us forward?"
Dyche: "Don't ask me"
Friedkins: "But you're the manager..."
Dyche: "Look, you lot have just got here but I've been brilliant for this club and there's nothing more that can be done here."
Friedkins: "So you're done then?"
Dyche: "I can't do any more"
Friedkins: "In that case we'll get someone else in and accept your resignation"
Dyche: "I didn't say resignation. SHOW ME THE MONEYYYYYYYYY"

Measure of the man indeed.

He did the job for the first 18 months but this season he seemed to be undoing any good progress made last season. I thought he would be able to sort us out at the back and keep things tight, but I don`t think I have enjoyed any game I`ve watched us play this season, it`s been seriously hard to watch.
He should have been let go last summer instead of wasting half a season. I'm definitely of the opinion that should Moyes keep us up then the same fate should happen him. No stadium new young manager, Bournemouth manager has totally transformed them. With Moyes we know actually what we are getting.

I think that would have been harsh. We went from surviving on the last day by the skin of our teeth, to last season staying up with points to spare having points earned taken off us. We seemed to be improving, at least in our league position, but the start we had was enough reason to send him packing before the end of November. Just the situation we were in with an owner just interested in selling the club, there seemed to be no one to make the call to axe him sooner than we did.
