2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I'd give him credit for last season, he did a very good job. This season, not so much.

What did my head in year in year out was Dyche basically writing off the first 6-7 games as not really counting or whatever strange mindset he had on them.

Bar 2005 which was a hangover from the CL injustice the starts to the season were always very strong under Moyes.

How good would it be to start next season with 9-10 points from the first 5 games and then the club can really start looking upwards again.

It was a safe decision to go with Moyes and it's worked. But now we have the scenario where the unstoppable force makes contact with the immovable object:

Fans with high expectations with new owners and a new stadium will have a manager who sets expectations low.

Something will give. Very quickly.

So... it was the right decision then?

Moysie may be a short-term solution to a long-term problem, I don't know. Right now, things are looking good, and now is all we really have in life, so just enjoy it.

Agree. Like he wanted to be in relegation battle by writing off the first month of games every season. It sets the tone for whole season a la Forest.

What really did my head in was him sneering that we should want to go out with a bang at Goodison 'I don't know where this last season at Goodison expectation has come from'.

Moyes came in and got it straight away. Every home game now will be a celebration.

To get Everton back to the top end of the league and winning trophies is a long-term problem, so even if Moyes only does his 2 1/2 years, it's short to medium term.

I said earlier, it's fairly likely that we are going to get a few years of stability, with safe midtable(ish) finishes and a manager who knows how to improve a squad.

He's frugal too, so PSR will likely not be a major issue too as the squad is built. He may not be a fashionable, progressive manager, yet he will let us build.

A little bit of pragmatism from the fans won't go amiss, and in the meantime he will bring some periods of contentness, which we've missed for years now.

His pig headedness and unwillingness to try to change/try anything different. Then his not trying to improve players not playing. Was criminal.

This. Those 10 points you talk about would have us at 8th and a point from Newcastle.
