I took my pain, now I will make my feelings clear about the man who caused that pain.

But we now have a manager who is winning games and for some reason, you dont like him?

Show some class and support our manager.

He saved the club by hook or by crook when no one...NO ONE...else at the club was in sight...they'd all abandoned Everton.

Now we're in calmer waters...but only because Dyche stopped the ship capsizing in the first place after the captain and crew had jumped overboard.

Don't disagree with that sentiment at all, but I'd caveat that with the point that he, and pretty much he alone, was the reason we were in choppy waters this season. With a better squad to work with, he regressed hugely. Doesn't and shouldn't detract from the job he did for 18 months before this season and that should really be the point where everyone could more or less agree, but where would be the fun in that?

Akin to a man who was drowning getting annoyed from the safety of the deck of his cruise ship that the man who rescued him wasn’t nice to him and didn’t give him good snacks in the lifeboat. Absolutely zero class.

Mistakes were made, for sure. Not playing O'Brien at RB looks insane now.

But I think the upturn under Moyes also coincides with the dumb luck of having DCL sidelined and Beto coming in with Garner back in the team too.

We'll see how bad a manager Dyche is if Moyes takes us beyond 48 points this season and beats the total for last season...though even then the pressure of points deductions couldn't;t really make a suitable comparison.

I still contest that last season with all that pressure and to get well clear of relegation is one of our best managerial performances in the last 2 decades.

You just described @Goat

He was not suitably entertained while having his club saved for him.

Again, on the subject of last season, I more or less agree. I think it was a huge achievement and one that probably gets overlooked because of a) the less-than-aesthetically pleasing football and b) that terrible mid-season run we had. You and I are in agreement that what he did in the first 18 months was impressive and has kept us afloat, even if he was never going to be loved by many.

I think asking Moyes to take us beyond 48 points this season is a big ask, given we had 17 points from 19 when he arrived (we had 22 points from 19 at the same stage last season), so you're asking for a return of 32 points from 19 games for that, which is pretty much European form. He's doing a great job, but I don't think it'd be any sort of failure if he didn't do that.

You don’t even pay to support this forum, let alone pay to go to Goodison, you have no idea how absolutely wank it was for people. My uncle and cousin were completely miserable all weekend after a home game.
Mad thing is that I agree with both of you

I have seen going to the match as a chore for a good while now - at least since Benitez got here and it's generally got progressively worse. I don't entirely blame Dyche for this as there has been the general background atmosphere of the off-field chaos as well, but it's fair to say that because of the football under Dyche, the match going experience was reaching new lows.

That being said, I can still objectively say that Dyche (for 18 months) was a good appointment and kept us afloat, even if it was painful to experience.

Dyche won 22 points in the last 18 games of last season...which is what Moyes had in front of him: 18 games.

He's got 13 right now, so if we get way more than 22 that'll be a reflection of talents.

I think Moyes easily surpasses that. He's the better manager.

But the overall argument has always been that Dyche deserves massive credit. Some hand it to him, others just whinge about not getting Total Football.

Twas ever thus, I suppose. You always have to put up with the churlish.

The club only needed saving cos Dyche put it in that position.

Maybe Moyes should have taken it easy, not won a few games and then picked up some points in May so he could "save" us.

What? No, it doesn’t work like that. He’s had half a season compared to Dyche’s full season last year. If we get under 48 points this season then that is mainly due to the former manager getting a grand total of 17 points from the first 19 games, and nothing to do with Moyes. Absolutely brain dead argument.

^^^ I just see words but with no form or structure to them.
