2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

So last season with two points deductions on the horizon was the time to try and open up with the same group of players who have just been in back to back relegation battles, knowing that if it doesn’t work the future of the club, the new stadium, and the takeover is literally on the line?

Fortunately Dyche’s judgement on risk return was more sound than yours.
Football thinking is so backwards. Trying to win matches is unnecessary risk and people truly believe that.

If you think I'm trying to make myself look superior in any way then you're massively wrong. I've held opinions that with hindsight I think were stupid. I thought Duncan was a serious contender to replace Carlo for a start.

Besides, none of the inconsistencies I've pulled you up on had anything at all to do with you trying to predict the future, so well done for making a completely facile point
Lol

Gordon does now, he was just a kid then. Richarlisom obviously does but Lampard had him for half a season before he was sold with no replacement. Iwobi was decent but no better than N’Diaye - I actually prefer N’Diaye. They also had no squad depth, one injury and it was scraping the barrel I.e with DCL out for most of the season.

Dyche has a better squad now than we had under FSW definitely Lampard.

With the squad we have now we‘d probably look better playing football under Lampard. This squad is better than 22/23 and Dyche had 2 full pre seasons to work with. So little excuse on that, despite it‘s still a bottom half squad.

But it‘s also a fact Dyche did better with the 22/23 squad than Lampard.

Haha, it undeniably was a facile point though mate. I'm sorry if me pointing that out to you makes you feel a bit inferior. :hayee:

Seriously though, if you're gonna debate opinions, then you can't just accuse people of trying to make themselves feel superior just because they've disagreed with you or highlighted something you've previously said.

About 75% of the Everton forum is people disagreeing with each other and challenging peoples comments. Do you never take peoples comments and pull them apart? Does that mean you're trying to make yourself feel superior? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, not really arsed, I'd rather just stick to debating football tbh.

It's the people that go back months and years for cheap point scoring vaulting opportunities that are lacking in any argumentative rigour. The idea that as new information becomes available that you shouldn't change your view because you said something once and you should be held to that view forever is the approach that is facile.

For someone who wants to "stick to debating football", you sure do get into a lot of these rows.

Anyway, this is drifting off topic. 15 points from 15 games, with the 3 matches remaining to be played of the 18 teams in the league being Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, is a bit rubbish isn't it? Could it have anything at all to do with the manager? He's a bit one paced isn't he?

I'm not the one who started a pound shop psych session accusing people of having a need to feel superior. And go on, please quote all these non football related rows I've been involved in, in the Everton forum recently please...

When did I say you had to stick to opinions forever? The opinions I've challenged you on aren't really subject to change, are they? It was only last night you were saying you still hold exactly the same opinion, so once again, you're making a facile point that has no relevance to anything we've discussed.

The ppg is not good enough, but we've put the early season 'spiral' behind us and current form suggests it will improve as the season goes on. Make no mistake though, another spiral and he won't be getting any more backing from me.

Well, you've been in two today, for example. I'd go back into the vaults but, as I've pointed out, that's a very weak and petty way to point score.

You say I haven't changed my opinion now, and I agree that's the case, but this all started with you trying to show me up for changing my opinion so it's a strange example to show how reasonable you are. So, did I change my opinion, and therefore I am a fool in your opinion, or did I not, in which case you were wrong to accuse me of such?

You keep saying your support for him will end with poor results and poor performances but we keep getting poor results with, objectively, poor performances and your support continues. I imagine that support will continue regardless of the on pitch successes or lack thereof. As that has been the pattern up to this point.

Nope. I got in to a disagreement with Lob, but that was most definitely related to Dyche. Do things go off topic at times? Of course, but I don't come here with the intention of discussing anything but Everton (well, in this particular part of the forum anyway.) I'm certainly not the first person to wander off topic because of comments made, and I certainly won't be the last. I've had one warning in all my time on this forum. That was for using a swear word, in August 2020, so I'm certainly not here to troll people or constantly derail threads.

I think you're missing the point mate. I didn't say you'd changed your opinion, I said you'd made contradictory statements. I don't disagree that we've improved because of Branthwaite for example, but I take exception to people having the contradictory opinion that it's not about the poorer players we have when things aren't going well, but it's definitely about our better players when things are going better.
