2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The worst thing about Dyche is that it would've taken so very little to make his time here comparatively successful. All he had to do was bit a little more positive in terms of style of play this year. If he'd have had us even five more points higher then when he got sacked, I think he'd still be here. I'd think he'd have seen his contract out and could've boasted forever more about being the guy kept Everton afloat three years on the spin, and saved the club in our darkest hour before bowing out on his own terms. He'd probably have got himself a really good championship job besed on it. Instead he couldn't let go of his own inbuilt negativity and its cost him.

I'm really glad he isn't.

Well reasoned take mate.

His team hold on vs Bournemouth or Villa, and Beto score that miss vs Southampton and he has those points you refer to.

But even so, he was always going under new owners. And had to, as soon as they were in.

My only hope is it didn't put a spanner in their long term works, as they'd have had Moyes immediately if he was their preferred choice. He wasn't.

This. The final days of Goodison would’ve been a miserable joyless experience. A blessing in disguise that he ran out of his 2 ideas and ended up begging to be put out of his misery by the new owners. Thatcher-loving stain on the football club.

A league of their own. 9pm. Thursday. Set your reminder.

So is he not going to airlift Leicester City above us then?

You’re lucky you can build an entire internet personality on hating Dyche, Mike. I’m not sure what you’d run with otherwise.

Lot of truth there but he never got sacked ——He got himself removed from the job by throwing his hand in, the owners were prepared to keep him on until he told them he’d taken the squad as far as he could, then the owners took him up on that and he got less of a pay off than he would have done by staying on so Moyes can thank Dyche he packed in or he wouldn’t be manager now and those who are glad Moyes is here have Dyche to thank as well.

He can still claim that right now:

1st season we were going down under Lampard. He came in and got us safe
2nd season the whole world was conspiring to relegate us - he got us safe...and then some
3rd season he left us in 16th position and we had a game in hand over opponents who have proven (as we all knew) incapable of getting more points (we'd have still been out of the relegation zone now with the points Dyche left us on about 6 weeks ago)

There's some asinine comments made about Dyche relegating us...mind you, we have a fanbase that were running round with their hair on fire saying Martinez was going to relegate us...when we were 11th in the table, so it doesn't surprise me.

Dyche did us a big favour here and he can easily hold his head up high on his record as manager of this club. EASILY.

He's an atrocious manager, though. He kept us up, but has been found severely lacking by a better manager in Moyes.

I know we hate him and he wasn’t any good and everything but I imagine a contractual bonus for avoiding relegation is pretty commonplace.

I'll always be thankful for what he did in the previous two seasons, he arrested the deplorable form we were in under Lampard and pushed us over the line.
Last year again, despite a lot of noise he ran a steady ship, however this year there should have been an improvement or at least parity. But it was a clear two steps back, coupled with not trusting players and allowing a shift in mentality/styles that ultimately cost him.

Thanks for the two years Sean, but definitely had to move on.
